View Full Version : More Visual Feedback...

When you click "Install this Hack", it needs more visual feedback in the thread listing that you installed it. I realize the the number of installations turns from black to green but I cannot really see it unless I squint at the page. Should have a visible ICON showing with a good deal of contrast.
My eyesight is 20/20 but my visual color range is shifted (most blues appear greenish to me) so having the green number on a greenish grey background doesn't work at all.

It's using the highlight color of the style, so it's red in plain green for example.
should we change the highlight color in smooth blue as well, or is it just because of the smallness of the number?
Icon or checkbox is an idea, *making a not for the changes to come soon*

It is a combination of the color and the size actually... very difficult for me to read in the default style. However the word "Sticky" is pretty much a blur as well. I just know what it is and can override that.
Maybe I will try the green style again and that will help.
<edit>
Stylish Green Helps a lot... I can read the install number after clicking on install this hack.

green is the better style ;)
but i think we should do something on smooth blue then, if the highlight color is a problem
Brad should take care of that, as our new style guru

It's all about motivation ;)
Once he does it he'll go back to slave again until his style skills are called upon again ;)

I added a prefix to threads that you have clicked the install button in, that should bring more attention to them. I also changed the highlight color in smooth blue to match the one in the plain green style.

You haven't changed all of the highlight colours Brad, as my signature still shows up as the Green colour in Smooth Blue;)
Also if you change that to the red colour (which I hope you do) don't forget to alter the /me code colour ;)

Blame Xenon, he's trying to make me look bad by using replacements ;)

Thanks... It is a lot more noticeable.
Do you guys have a hard time reading the number of installs due to the font size? I was blessed with better than 20/20 vision so it is hard for me to notice things that are hard to read for people with less than perfect eye sight.

Personally, the smaller the font the more contrast is essential. In all honesty though, I don't like anything less than 10 pixels in size. Just too difficult to read smaller text due to contrast issues. As the number of installs is really inconsequential to using the site, just changing the contrast is enough. If it was longer text, it would need to be larger.

I can't stand the new highlight color on this smooth blue style. It looks revolting and does not match the blue at all. Makes the place look tacky IMO.

I'm not a fan of the new installed prefix either if I'm honest, sorry.

Works for me, though i still use Dark Blue and yellow has always been the highlight color for that style...

Hmm it's blue now, I still don't feel it fits in as nicely as the green did :(
Just playing around with colors until I find one that fits. ;)

There's no contrast now, it's just boring monotonous blue throughout...

Yeh - Its better ;)
If you could create an option with the red, the green and the blue in the User CP, we could choose for ourselves :D

While I don't mind the "installed prefix" - please put back the highlight colour on the actual number, I now have to scan from left to right all the while to match up "installed" with the number.
Chris M

Yeh - When you load the page your eyes automatically focus on the Thread Title and Last post columns, i.e. where the number appears ;)
It's a hassle to have to scan left to see if I installed it:p

Brad,
I am loving the changes already. :D
I kept switching styles to find one that displayed the forumhome lightbulb marker the best and really appreciate you taking the time to distinguish it.
That and the 'installed' prefix on Search rocks. :D
