xlegends, don't color code them if you don't want them to show on the list.

I just installed this and nothing happened. Do I need to edit the file some more? When I look in the plugin manager it shows up but not in manage products. Have I not installed it correctly?

From looking at your forums, you don't seem to have colored usergroups. Hence, no legend showing up because there are no colors to identify. This modification is used to let your users know what the colors mean. No colors or font changes - no legend.

dirtycrow, it works for secondary groups already. you don't have to do anything different.
First off, very nice plugin.
Can you expand on what you mean by this?
I have my forum setup as follows.
Everyone is in the registered groups by default.
Registered Users have no specified html markup and get the default color of blue.
For members that donated, they are in a group called Sponsors.
Sponsors get brown markup color.
With each user, if the Display Usergroup is set to default, They always get colored the Registered Users color, even though they are in a secondary group with a different coloring.
Is your statement above meaning that if there is no markup for the primary group, if there is in the secondary, they should have that color shown for them? Or your plugin taking whatever markup the Display Usergroup is set to?
I hope this post made sense.

Whatever the display group is set to.
Canis Firebrand

Thats what I thought, but wasn't sure.
Was hoping that it would pick up the markup for the secondary group if the primary had no specified markup.
I'll just have to go in and set everyones display for the secondary group then.
Thanks for the quick reply. :)

This does not work in Firefox, is their a fix?
What do you mean it doesn't work in firefox?
I use firefox to view my forum, and I see this modification working as expected. Did you create the html markup in each usergroup in the usergroup manager?
If you don't you won't see any legend or colors.
This was one of the simplier modifications I've made. Though on its own, it doesn't do anything. It needs the html markup for each user group to work properly.
Maybe post a link to your forum, someone might see something if there is a problem.

So if a user is apart of registered users, as their primary, and they have a secondary group assigned to them too, then their markup will be the primary groups color right? Even if the secondary has markup...

1st Thx for the great hack
2nd it works for me fine at 3.6.0
3rd I found a way how to eliminate unwanted usergroup from being displayed, its simple Just give 2 usergroups the same diplay order so then ONLY one of them will be displayed .
ex : SuperModerator Display Order = 2
V.I.P Members Display Order = 6
Give now V.I.P Members Display Order 2
and it will be eliminated :)
Waiting Amy for the update .

I dont understand how to change the usergroup colors??? Thanks!
amykhar
09-07-2006, 05:08 PM
That's a built in function of vbulletin. You set the colors in your usergroup manager by changing the markup code.

I tried installing this again but when I do part of it still doesnt work right.
Example:
Some groups on my forum are Admin, Managers, VIP and Writers.
At first if they were all set to display order 0 the alphabetically last one would be on the legend for some reason, so writers.
If i make admin display order 1, writers still comes before it even set to 0. If i change writers to 0 the legend says.
VIP l Admin l Writers
The last usergroup alphabetically keeps overwritting like this... Any ideas how to sort it?
amykhar
09-10-2006, 04:31 AM
Read the code ;) . Setting it to display order 0 won't do anything if you have markup set for it. 0 is less than 1 which makes it come before. Either don't give it markup, or put in a check for 0 if you don't want 0 to show.
UNRE4L
09-10-2006, 06:38 PM
How do you mean a check for 0? Anything other than a number is converted to 0 and if i do it the way Smartonevision suggested the last name alphabetically is the one to overwrite.

I usually just add HTML on the FORUMHOME template:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/external/2007/06/34.jpg
After "<if condition="$show['loggedinusers']">" I added:
Legend: [<b><font color="#FF0000">Administrator</font></b>] [<b><font color="#00CC00">Moderator</font></b>]
[<font color="#000080"><b>ScamBaiter</b></font>] [<b><font color="#FF00FF">Team Pink</font></b>]

Amykhar and all the expierence coders.. how to do like this.. i think i would have to edit the xml file..
The image is attached. The site has some primary groups and Custom groups separated differently. I think..
Coders will get it faster than I did.

This is a nice mod. I like that it does everything automatically. If you use HTML you need to edit that every time you make a change. Having said that, I much rather have it use the User Title instead of the group title. If I had the know how, I would make an admincp thing for this.
For now, you can use the Plugin Manager in admincp to edit the code and achieve this effect.
Original code:
if (!isset($legend))
{
$legend = $group['opentag'] . $group['title'] . $group['closetag'];
}
else
{
$legend .= " | " . $group['opentag'] . $group['title'] . $group['closetag'];
}
}
Changed code:
if (!isset($legend))
{
$legend = $group['opentag'] . $group['usertitle'] . $group['closetag'];
}
else
{
$legend .= " | " . $group['opentag'] . $group['usertitle'] . $group['closetag'];
}
}

nice hack and i really would like to hit the install button
but just 1 thing keeps me from doing that
it would be nice and profesional if you tell in youre txt file what tod do with the xml
on vb 3.6.8 patch 2 it say its not a product or what ever
so maybe some of the experst can post here or maybe the designer himself can put this in his read me txt file
