Question regarding upgrades and plugins.

Should one disable all plugins before upgrading vB versions? I upgraded to Beta 4 last night without disabling anything and am finding a LOT of stuff no longer works.

Hmm, the Plugins should not be affected from Upgrades.
Which problems did you face actually?

The two that I could not get to work afterwards were the Who Viewed My Profile plugin, and Read PMs. I've since done a fresh install of Beta 4 (I blew up the forum on another plugin issue) and those two still won't work so it appears it's a version issue with the two plugins.
