There are quite a few of the plug ins that require modifications and I thought...and I may be wrong but wasn't the idea of a PLUGIN to avoid code modifications?

Shouldn't the ones requiring code modifications be put under mods instead of plugins?

Just my .02 worth. Liz

Not if the mods are to the plugin code, which can't always be avoided. For some plugins, it's designed to let you choose likes like a forumid, etc. Then, a mod to the plugin code is inevitable.

But, once that mod is made, you don't have to redo it when you upgrade your site to Beta 4, etc.

Even if the original code is modified, the idea of using Plugins as well is to reduce the number of file edits you have to make in the future and when installing :)

According to our definition here for now (until we get the new database frontend system working) if a plugin requires source code modification, it should not be posted in the plugin forum.
