I've been asked a couple of times how I put the Google search in the search on the navbar, so I thought I would post it here maybe it's of use to others :)
Go to your Google adsense account and choose Search Settings, choose your language, country etc and make the Length of text box 10, tick Google logo above text box, then update code.
In your navbar template place your Google code between:
<tr>
<td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]" accesskey="4" rel="nofollow">$vbphrase[advanced_search]</a></td>
</tr>
</table>
and
</div>
<!-- / header quick search form -->
All done :)
AFAIK this should also work on 3.0.x

Hello,
I haven't actually installed this yet, but I did create the account. Once I get the information required, I will be installing this. Thanks.

Hello,
I wasn't fond of how they looked in the same location, so I added a seperate dropdown for the google search. This helps to get it noticed by the members, which could lead to it being used more. I have attached instructions on how to do this.
This works with 3.0.# and with 3.5 #
I have it being used on my 3.0.7 site as well as my 3.5 test site.
To see how it looks, have a look here:

How does the google search compare to VB search? Does the google search just include the forums?

opposite...google search will just be the WEB.
(you can add a local site search to your google search bar....but that would be doubling up with vb search).

There should be no reason why it shouldn't work, I assume you already have a Google account?
Thanks so much! I was trying like crazy to figure this one out yesterday on my own! I got it everywhere in the navbar but there :ermm:

In v3.50 I didn't find this code:
<tr>
<td class="vbmenu_option"><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]" accesskey="4" rel="nofollow">$vbphrase[advanced_search]</a></td>
</tr>
</table>
So, I just put the Google Search code just above:
</div>
<!-- / header quick search form -->
And works like a charm! ;)
Thank you for sharing this code with the rest of us. :D

Did anyone try this in any of the newer versions of vBulletin yet (3.6.7, 3.6.8, 3.6.9)?
What I'm looking for is a solution similar to what eg. http://forums.macrumors.com/ hasm which uses Google to search for threads inside it's own forum...
Thanks in advance.
