After a lot of research and recommendations I decided to impliment a vbulletin forum on one of our sites. I sent an initial inquiry with a pre-sale question, received a curt response from Steve Machol. Two more e-mails to him over a two week period brought no response. Still interested, I tried calling vbulletin today at their toll-free number at 2pm PST. A girl answered the phone who immediate said that she didn't work for vbulletin and that it was a service that just forwarded messages to "someone".

In short, it is a shame that this company has a nice piece of software, but it is appears to be impossible to get a simple pre-sales question answered in a month. Maybe I need to take another look at the free forum software available. At least there would be no expectation of any type of support with free software.

Hi

Thanks for your comments, but this isn't really the place to post them. Here on vBulletin.org we deal mainly with custom modifications of vBulletin, and while we are an official Jelsoft site, we don't do any customer support. The place to post this would be in the pre-sales forum at vbulletin.com.

If you'd like to post your question here though, I'm sure someone will help you if possible. :)

I might add to that, that mailing someone directly might not always get the response you wanted. Their mailboxes receive hundreds of mails a day, and your mail could easily get lost in those amounts.

For a fast response on Pre-Sales questions, i suggest you follow Colin's suggestion of posting in teh Pre-Sales forum at vbulletin.com, or mail to sales@vbulletin.com. You can address the mail to Steve if he know about your situation, by putting his name in the topic.

And like Colin also suggested, you are here always welcome to ask (Pre-Sales) questions about modification, but also regular inquiries we will try to answr.

Wouldn't it be simpler to tell potential customers, especially those not entirely net savvy, to look up the mailing address for Jelsoft using WHOIS and then write out a letter to snail mail?

:D
