Redirect option after posting a thread/reply

Right now in VB as soon as I post a reply in a post or post a new post it takes me to the post I posted afterwards, where as in phpbb it gives you an option wether to stay in the same thread or go to forum index where all the topics are of that forum, how do I make VB 3.0.7 function like that, sorry if it sounds like a noobish question.

Change the redirect URL in newreply.php/newthread.php, maybe based upon forum input.

Can you please elaborate on that a bit, I know I have to edit newreply.php and newthread.php but how?
