I have a roleplay forum, and the one thing I've needed FOREVER was a way for members to create character accounts without having to create a new user account on the forum. I've requested it half a dozen times, but nothing that fits the bill has come out yet... and I lack some serious coding skillz. As we know, allowing people to have multple accounts can be alot of trouble as well as not being an accurate list of your members. Members could create their characters in their UserCP with a special avatar and signature, then when posting they can choose from their characters. Posts would display the default name/avatar/sig OR if a character is chosen, it would show it's name/avatar/sig!
This would be a great feature for ANY forum that wanted to give their members additional features, like nicknames, or multiple avvies/sigs. Bonus for those forums that host roleplay games and want a better way to diffirentiate between characters! There's also great add-ons that could be made with ucash & ushop, ect!
USERCP
- Create/Change Alias
---- Add/Change Avatar
---- Add/Change Signature
- Choose Alias to post with for new thread/reply
- Manage/Delete Aliases
- Choose Default Alias
ADMINCP
- Choose forums to allow/deny Aliases.
- Choose usergroups to allow/deny Aliases.
- Choose limit for amount of aliases that can be created per member or per usergroup.
- Disallow a specific member to use aliases.
- Admin options to choose to enable/disable creating new names, avatars or signatures INDIVIDUALLY. (Thus admins could allow uses to have duplicate avatar/siggies but not the names, or multiple names but not avatars/siggies, ect.)
- View All Aliases
- View A Member's Aliases
- Edit/Delete Aliases
POSTBIT
- If no alias is chosen when posting, display default name. (username, or default alias.)
- If Alias is chosen, display alias as username.
- Show real username under the alias in small text if Alias is chosen. (optional via template edits or admincp)
- Show chosen avatar and signature for Alias, else show default.
NEW THREAD OR REPLY/QUICK REPLY
- If no aliases, show nothing changed.
- Else, Display dropdown menu with aliases. Default being their username or the default they chose in the UserCP.
