I will NOT provide support for the removal of features of this style. If you want to remove things, look in the relevant templates and remove them.

This is the 3.5 Release of the Steel series in Teal for 3.5.4.

Customised statusicon, buttons/misc and gradients folders included.

***Additional Instructions***

vBAdvanced Users: Put nzb_greeting and nzb_greeting2 in the globalized variables section of your vBA AdminCP - Default Settings.

To change the 'Launch date' ticker on Forum Home, look in the FORUMHOME template, near the bottom. There is a start date field. :)

To change the greetings that appear in the navbar, have a look in your nzbgreeting plugin.

To have the Forum images show up for selected forums, go into your forumhome_forumbit_level*_post templates (both level1 and level2) and look for the condtitional that reads:

<if condition="in_array($forum['forumid'], array(999,999)">

Change these ids to the ones you want to use.

Further on in the same template is this conditional:

<if condition="!in_array($bbuserinfo[usergroupid], array(1,3,4,8))">

The array contains those Usergroup ids that we do NOT want to see the Start New Thread button.

Somewhat..the reason you are missing those images is I did not include them.

They are supposed to be icons for the Forums...unique to your site. You have to make them yourself.

*edit* By default, this will not occur. It is only when you edit the forumhome_forumbit_level* templates and change the 9999,9999 conditional.

I don't think I understand the second bit...but to make the images not be there, look in the forumhome_forumbit_level*_post templates for an if conditional that contains /forumhome/$forum[forumid].gif and either set the forums to 99999 or remove it completely.

That is weird... sorry, but I wouldn't have a clue, other than to suggest looking at the very top of forumhome_forumbit_leve1_nopost (I think) and making sure the number in the conditional is equal to your top most category.

In getting NZB ready for BETA3, I am finding the templates that need to be reverted, and that are changed in this style.

From what I can see, there's only SHOWTHREAD and postbit to worry about. Revert them then do a compare and replace the changes I have made.

There's nothing wrong with IE i find more things work with IE :rolleyes:

See those little squiggles? Those are words. They tell you which templates need reverting.

As far as I know, those are the only ones I needed to revert.

(Isn't it a pretty obvious step to assume SHOWTHREAD and postbit need reverting if a button in the postbit doesn't activate something in SHOWTHREAD?)

You will need to re-add the member info part of the postbit to the reverted one. I would advise comparing the old (un-reverted) one to the new one.

I tried to install the updated version for beta 4 but things didn't go too well. The upload didn't seem to replace any of the images bits i.e. /images/steel/buttons and so forth in the image paths section of the style like the previous version for beta2/3 did.

I tried a different approach to merging the new style with the beta 2 version of the style and this had better results but the logo image at the top now shows a white box with rounded corners around it (Much like the actuall forum display)

It just seems to modify all that is should. :(

My apologies..on my testing server, these are /images/ rather than /images/steel . :)

Either manually update your style var paths in AdminCP - Style Manager or download the zip again and merge it into the style. I have fixed the zip.

Re. your forum look problem, have you done this:

I am likely going to use a modified version of this on my board. I found the following issues/annoyances which I thought you might like feedback on:

1. The popup menus use the old VBulletin color scheme. Easily fixed in the css.

2. The PM inbox uses the old style buttons. I copied over the new thread buttons instead.

3. Two buttons are lacking (forcing the board to not use them, or to use the inconsistent default buttons). First, there's no button for moved post/forwarded PM. Second, there's no button for a "hot" topic which has been locked.

4. The days/hours/minutes/seconds uptime counter is not so useful for a board that has been up for years. I'm likely going to change it to years/months/days.

5. I think you went a bit too far in reducing some of the font sizes, especially the "small" font which I bumped up a bit. I use 1600x1200 and some of the text was looking positively miniscule.

6. I darkened the link colors, they weren't showing up very well against the background.

Anyway, don't know if you want to incorporate any of this or not. I'd greatly appreciate the two missing buttons, though, since I'm not that good at photoshop. :nervous:

I downloaded them all, the steelblue3.5b4.zip file contains an xml file last modified 17/07/2005.. and the other ones modified even earlier.

I downloaded the Green and Purple and they work a treat though :) Does the blue style have the new icons (but in blue)?

Also if you don't find me cheeky for asking, any chance of a Steel Red :) :)

Nothing is wrong with it Lebanese. The first picture is how it's supposed to look... and for you footer; this style was designed to be used with the Quick Style Chooser, turn it on and it'll look as it should. You could also use colspan to fix it if you don't want to turn the QSC on.

Well.. the headinclude has a conditional for Polls and the navbar has a <h1> attribute applied to the lastelement .. and the Forum title/description and thread title show in the navbar to increase keword density on the pages (but that last one is somewhat achieved by default vb.)

Look for //This date should be less than today and change the date underneath that to your own.

I finally upgraded to 3.5 today and got the steel skins installed and I love them! But can someone help me get it to where my columns all line up?

I had the steel skin installed on the old version too and had the same problem, but managed to get them lined up eventually, but since the templates are so different in this new version, I'm not having any luck this time. I especially don't like how the top table under the nav bar is squished on the right side. If you look at my forum home, I think you'll see what I mean.

Obviously, I've changed it a bit to reflect Halloween, but that's just images and css.

If anyone can help, I'd sure appreciate it! :)

The boxes are visible in the default style. But It seems that the column width of the last column (that with the check boxes) is less in the not working style than in the working styles. Is it possible that it is just to small to show those check boxes, and how to change it?

I've been using this excellent style on VB 3.0.X for some time now and have never had any problems at all.

I upgraded today to 3.5.1 and used the new version of the skin.

I have now lost the quick reply box and just can't figure out what happened. All the options are enabled, but it just doesn't appear.

Has anyone else had this problem? I know its a stupid question but I really am not very good with this stuff.

I'm having a problem that I actually saw mentioned in this thread a while back, but I didnt ever see a response that explained the resolution.

I've attached a screen capture to illustrate the problem. Meta data is being displayed in the welcome message. I'd like to clean the look of the page up and get rid of the second block. How do I edit what is displayed in this section?

I'm a recent re-convert to VB and still getting reoriented. I defected for over 2 years to IPB, but I had finally had enough. Please bear with me while I get things figured out all over again.

Also... I know many have asked so I dont expect a different result than anyone else, but any chance of getting the PSD files? I have a darker page background and the buttons went from looking great on white to looking awful on the darker background. I can create new ones, but this would save me a ton of time.

Yes I did. I've tried uploading it for a second time and the same problem persists.

All the mod controls on the forum list work fine.

However inside a post they don't. You tick the posts you want to moderate and you can select what action you want to carry out, Merge/Delete etc. You can even click the "go" button, but it doesn't do anything.

If I select the standard Vbulletin skin, that still works fine!?!

I don't know what's wrong there.. I have just tried it on vbenhanced.com and I am afraid I will have to play the 'works for me' card on this one.

Try importing it as a child to the default style again.

What's involved in upgrading from version 3.5.1 to version 3.5.3 of this style? Is it just as simple and importing the updated xml? Will that wipe out any customizations done to templates?

You need to import the Product that is in the .zip ..

I have the same problem and after a lot of searching found that this was coming from my meta tag description in the vb options in the admincp, but cant figure out how to get rid of it.
It's in the navbar template.

To remove it, take out the following code:

To add the $nzb_greeting and $nzb_greeting2 variables to these (and other error) pages, you need to add these variables to the globalised variables in various php files. (As far as I know anyway.)

Look in the php code for a line that has something like global $vbulletin, $stylevar and add , $nzb_greeting, $nzb_greeting2 after it.

Thanks, that worked beautifully! You ought to release the greeting thing by itself since it's a neat deal.

For others needing to get the greeting into the arcade (IbProArcade), the function.php file in the /arcade/functions directory is the one to change.

If you installed one or more of the Steel series of styles and also have some others, you can put the greeting on the remaining styles be looking for the following in the navbar template:

<strong><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]">$vbphrase[welcome_x]</phrase></strong><br />

And replace it with:

<strong>$nzb_greeting</strong><br /><strong>$nzb_greeting2</strong><br />

To change the 'Launch date' ticker on Forum Home, look in the FORUMHOME template, near the bottom. There is a start date field.

Great Style Kall, I just have one question..
With the Join Date stars in Postbit_legacy, why does it show all 4 stars ex. (6,12,18 & 24 mnth.) for every user, no matter what there join date is? I have tried to adjust the #'s in postbit_legacy for them, but still not solved.. If anyone has any suggestions or fix for this it would be greatly appreciated as this is the only Problem I am having with it.

Not sure what the problem is here. I just installed a forum with the vbadvanced cmps and I would like this style as my default. The style looks fine on the forums, but the colors are different on the cmps. You can see what I mean HERE (http://www.themoneypost.com) and then look at the forums to see the color change. The modules are different, and even the nav bar changes color.

EDIT: Figured it out... image paths were not set to the full URL.

The instructions say to uninstall plugins before installing this skin. Being new to the 3.5 version of VB, anytime a new skin is added to this version must any plugins be uninstalled or does this skin have features that impact plugins?
