A few weeks back i asked for help coding a style for my forums and Bumpaneer (http://forum.yaxay.com/member.php?find=lastposter&t=26392) from the yaxay.com forums was generous enough to help out.
All I ask is that if you make modifications to the style that you share them here.
Included are the font and .psd file for the header as well.
xml file updated to be xhtml compliant. should help load times. no javascript errors.
I am adding the full .psd files used to create the theme. This should help those of you wanting to make large modifications. Please share any interesting modifications you make, if you don't want to share the psd or xml file then at least let us see a picture of how it came out. PSD files (http://www.funmac.com/grassyknollpsd/grassyknoll_psds.zip)
Some people have been inquiring into a branding free option. I am offering a branding free option for $100. Email or PM me if you would be interested in a branding free version of the style

The rest of the tools were removed, you can readd them if desired. Also you animated gif doesn't run anymore because of the way the style is set up to handle transparent png's. Additionally animated avatars would be distracting if text appeared over them in the postbit.

I uploaded it but the forum is all streached out funny. Any ideas?
Also where do I put the fonts?
Thanks
Attached Image shows what it looks like.
fonts are generally included with psd's to make additional buttons if your board requires it. they arent used in the actual style as far as i know.

Did you try to change the width of the style?
No I simply imported the style. I don't even know how to change thw width.
I went to the Upload/Download Styles and imported the XML. I told it to create a new style.

Its your "All trademarks or registered trademarks..." disclaimer at the bottom. Its too long, needs to be on seperate lines. Throw some <br /> 's in there and it should solve it.

Hi
Nice style, but why all the JavaScript errors, + there are over 300 html errors just on the forum home page, the forumdisplay page has over 500 errors and not 1 page is valid XHTML 1.0 (http://www.w3.org/TR/2002/REC-xhtml1-20020801/) Transitional!
IE, Netscape, Firefox work ok, because they fix errors most errors, but other browser it looks really bad. The reason why is many <tables> are not closed or not properly written....
example.... (there are many errors like below)
<td height="26" width="5"> </tr><td>
<td height="26" width="5"> <td>
You should fix these.....

Hello,
First I´d like to thank you for the great style, i really love it!
I´m new into vbulletin so this question may be kind of silly, but I´ve tried to install CMPS and other hacks on my board but everythin I ever do ends up like this. (see attachment) I think I´ve done everything correct and the hacks work with other styles, but with your one the tables always go nuts.
Maybe you can help me out on this?
thanks.

The rest of the styles are all free styles I found here or on skinvb.com. Some of the nicer ones came from SkinVB.com whose owner seems to be banned on these forums and whose site is completely different now (no free skins :( ).

08-24-2004, 12:02 AM
Since a few have asked I am attaching the love spring style. I did not create this style. I got this style for free from the vbskins.com website which has since been shut down. I don't have the original files (psds and such) so you will need to track down the original author to get all of those goodies.

I was wondering if someone has found a fix for this? :) The avatar has the grass thingy going through the middle of the avatar. I want to move the grass thingy to BELOW the avatar. :)
Take a glance at the attachment.
I've been trying to figure it out for the last few days and am coming to a dead end on everything. So, help? :) LOL

That is how it is supposed to work. The reason it doesn't look right is that it was designed for avatars that are 96px tall. it creates a cool effect where the avatar looks like it is sitting in the grass as just the bottom few pixels are behind it.
I only wrote the original html so bumpaneer might have changed it afterwards but the part you need to change looks like this:
<div id="Layer1" style="position:absolute; width:100%; height:64px; z-index:1; left: 0px; top: 156px;" class="GRASS"></div>

How odd, I just noticed this problem just now, LOL
I'm having the same problem as the guy in this post on this thread, http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mods/showpost.php?p=53578&postcount=44
I've been checking the code out, and can't seem to find the correct spot for the weird stripes off to the right of the vbadvanced blocks.
Wanna point me in the right direction? LOL
HoC
Awessome style.
Unfortunately doesn't look good when using vbadvanced or article hacks :(
House_of_Crazed
08-31-2004, 04:13 PM
Ig@r -
that is because the templates for vbadvanced or articles is not heavily modified. As far as I saw, every template in this style is modified.
In order to get this to work with the various hacks, you're going to have to modify the templates for the hacks in this style.

Style has now been updated to XHTML Transitional compliance.
Check the first post for the updated package.

For the people having problems with vb additions, check the way $spacer_open and $spacer_close were used in the grassy knoll templates. they are to start and end the white box. so usually they are included in the navbar and footer templates. you may have to take them out of other templates so it looks correct.
AmbitiousLemon
10-11-2004, 05:01 AM
Bumpaneer has updated grassyknoll. I updated the attachment on the first post. The new version is now xhtml compliant. The load times should be greatly improved. There are no more javascript errors. New posts are now italic so that they are more noticable. To update you only need to upload the .xml file (everything else is the same).
All thanks should go to bumpaneer.
Regarding the trouble with forum additions Bumpaneer told me the following:
the way $spacer_open and $spacer_close is used is different than vb default.
i use them to open and close the white boxes you see on the pages
$spacer_open appears under the navbar and $spacer_close right above the footer.
hope that helps.
Also my only request I made when posting this is that if anyone has made some interesting modifications that they share these as i have shared the original. If you have gotten a forum addition to look good with grassy knoll please share what you changed and post a screenshot. I am sure others would find that helpful.
looks like bumpaneer posted while i was writing this, more info in his posts

actually we include $spacer_close in our footer so as long as you have the footer in there $spacer_open will be closed.

I have a small problem with this one.
Look here:
http://www.linkshell.de/newhope/showthread.php?t=21
The text overrides the Avatar (not sure if it was meant this way), i want it more to the right (the text) so that it wont override anymore.
I also want the User-Title and the User-Icons (Stars w/e) under the Username.
Everything else is fine.
Can anyone tell me which template/s i have to modify to get back a more 2.xxish look?
Thanks in advance for your help :)
