Here is my work in progress. It's a car enthusiast site http://sportcompactracing.com/vbulletin/ . I'm open to comments, feedback, idea's, etc. To me it feels like it is missing something. Maybe some cat backgrounds or something. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Not sure if a Jetta is the best car to show off on a sports car site, but I guess it fits with the "compact" racing thing. Maybe try something more sporty though? Celica? Mazda RX-8, etc. :) Other than the clear inspiration from http://forums.evolutionm.net/ it's not too bad.

just the header looks to me as if it is inspired by evolutionm.net...

-The header needs to stretch the whole page length. It will look better this way.
-Scroll on 800 X 600.
Otherwise, it looks nice to me. :)

I'm actually not sure why it does that on 800X600. Any res larger (which I always use anyway) and it is fine. ???
evolutionm was definetly a huge inspiration for the header simply to see if I could pull it off. I'm in the process of doing some header changes (including changing the now singular car on the header itself. I'll probably add 3 or 4 cars that represent the bulk of the club.
Is there a template mod here for one of the borders with rounded edges? I had trouble finding it the other night, but know i've seen it. I'll go look some more.

It's bigger on 800 X 600 because the set width's you use are bigger then the 800 X 600 browser screen, which creates a scroll to fit it all in.
100% width should make it fit in all, but could make it very squashy. So I wouldn't advise that. Just make it say your site is best viewed on 1024 X 768.

I modified the header some over the past few days and am now messing with some category header images. THe new header is definetly an improvement IMO at least.
