View Full Version : [release] Include Title in "Last Post By"
filburt1

Author: filburt1
Description: Includes the title of the last thread in "Last Post By" in forumhome.
Demo: None yet
Screenshot: next post
This is incredibly unclean but can't be accomplished any other way realistically without hacking or changing the database structure. It requires IE5.5+; any other browser will show the Last Post By just as if you had never installed the mod.
If you hack your board, install TECK's hack instead of this (which BTW the query is partially by TECK). If you don't hack, then use this.

Simple as it may sound that's extraordinarily more complicated.

Nice, although yeah if your design isn't right it can look cluttered.

So how big is your phpinclude template now? :p
filburt1
12-13-2002, 01:51 AM
No bigger since this mod isn't being used on my "real" style set.

Well seeming as it's a big part to this mod, I guess it's fine here.

I specifically made it go to the thread itself because there's already the last post icon :)
edit: also, FWIW I'm going to look into making a much cleaner version. It will be more complicated to write and require modifying the db schema, though.

This feature works great on my site but one problem. Even if the character length does not go over the thresh hold the ... still show. How do i fix this?

PPN originally did that hack. Teck just re-did it some of the code.

Is there any way of slightly changing this so it works on something other than IE as well?

Can this be made to work on Forum LIST pages instead of the Forumhome templates? I tried it the most obvious way and had no luck. At most it just displayed something like "lasttitle156" or "65" etc., but no text.
