View Full Version : Default avatar if none selected.
This mod will no longer allow users not to have a avatar, insted it will set their avatar to a default one. This can be useful for people that make postbits only to have them broken when a user has no avatar.
You will need to update old acounts to the new default avatar if they are not using one.

i did the avatar id part ohh you mean it wont work on the old accounts.. got ya
Yea, old acounts have the info already set to their acounts to display no avatar. This mod will set a acount to the default avatar when they reg (if they select the default avatar option) or when they click 'no' in the avatar part of the user cp.

Has a version of this been updated for vB3? Could it be?

There is a vB 3 version made by someone else posted in the the modification forums.

Hmmm... I only saw template hacks that displayed a default avatar placeholder, not assign an actual default avatar to new users. But if you say it's there, I'll take a harder look.
Thanks!
Don't bother looking, it is not there, the one you found is what I am talking about. I may update this one, I have not looked at that part of vB 3's templates much so I don't know if it is possible or not.

I'm surprised there isn't an option to define a default avatar for users from within vBulletin...
Anyways, maybe a code change to the vB3 registration template could work. It's not that important to me anymore, since I tested my navbar/header avatar template after deactivating my avatar, and it's fine. That's was one thing I was worried about.
Hopefully in the future... "In the yeeeaaaaar twoooo thou-zaaaaand..."

Not really practical. Waste of time actually.

Not real practical.
Of course it's practical. How is it not practical? Setting a default avatar for users at the registration phase makes perfect sense. There are lots of usergroup-specific settings options already. This should be something in a future version of vB, but until then I'll work around it.
