Extra Colum On the Left of the forum

Hiya,

I've been trying to make a Extra Colum On the Left of the forum. I heard you can do this by Starting a Table in the header and ending it in the footer. I tryed this serveral Times.

I want to do it on these forums:
Http://www.wowforge.com/forums/
so they look like the homepage at:
Http://www.wowforge.com/

Can any of you help me out?
