I am going to put the stars in front of the title. I want to center the stars but leave everything underneath alone. How would I do this?

Ethics

ok wait its only working for members that are not mods/admins how can this be fixed?

N9ne
07-21-2002, 11:31 PM
hehe I already use this...

@Ethics - go to usergroups, and go to mods/supermods/admins' usergroups and for their title, put <br><img src="linktoimage">

I did this mod ages ago but didn't release it :p

mashby
07-21-2002, 11:31 PM
I haven't found a fix for that part. My board works the same way. :(

The only workaround I have found is to custom edit your titles for your admins. If you edit your account through the Admin control panel for example, then you can choose to use a custom title for yourself and then include the appropriate stars. However, it won't change automatically by the number of posts.

It appears that certain accounts do not participate in the "title process" like a regular user would.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Ethics

woah thanx it worked.

mashby
07-21-2002, 11:42 PM
Just remember, your mods and admins are not subject to the user titles, so their stars won't change based on the number of posts.

Of course, they probably deserve 5 stars anyway. :)

No that is a hack (thus not supported on this site) and you can find it at vBulletin.org [link (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31775)]

This is a VERY nice hack. Very easy to install, and works nicely.

My forum has some nice stars on it(Thanks to Bid For Power for the stars!)

http://216.118.85.49/forum/showthread.php?threadid=16 there is what they look like(note: yes everyone is an admin/mod because are just starting off and we are getting our staff together)

cuz i try to do it in my forum but by anther way, the way that give each mod a standr avatar but, i dont like these way.

on gay say that you can but in the place of the user title the path of the pic or the avatar but, also i dont want to do it by these way cuz i want to keep the user title.

i hope u anderstand waht i mean mr. mashby i know it's to much words:) so try to forgive me :) :) :)

I used to be on another board with stars and this one is almost exactly like it but the stars even changed color as you went higher in the posts . .like say the first 5 stars are yellow, the next 5 are blue, the next 5 are green, and so on. And the admin. always got 5 blue stars and the mods always got 5 red stars .. do you think you could make that .. ??

imported_GuruXL
08-21-2002, 11:52 PM
its basically the same thing just get different images.

For example. what you are asking for is a .gif file with the changing colors, that can be implemented, just get those images and then replace the

<img src="http://yourserver.com/images/flashing.gif">

its doesn't get any simpler than that!

mashby

GuruXL,

I'm sorry but I had to remove your previous post with the SQL query. I think it goes outside of the boundries of the rules of vBT. I'll check with SaintDog and if he disagrees, I'll put it back.

However, I think you could do the same thing without the query. Unelss I'm missing something you just have to make new images, to go with each new category.

mashby
08-22-2002, 07:42 PM
Well, you might be able to add an image to your titles. To do that, just go to your Admin Control Panel and edit the User titles to include your <img> tag for the image that you'd like to use.

That's a good idea actually. :)

The images are part of vBulletin, so you'll have to decide which images you want to use. For your example, you might want to use 1 star, 3 star, and 6 star images. Or you could use 1, 2, and 3 star images. The choice is yours. :)

This template mod will not affect the avatar at all. You're simply adding an additional image for those titles that you edit.

If you don't want to lose the title, just add a <br>, as Tony suggested and then the image tag. So, what you'd have is this:

Title<br><img src="your_image.gif">

In your postbit, you'd have two things that you can move around:

1. $ post[title] - This is the variable that would call the title of the user and any associated title issue.

2. $ post[icon] - This is the variable that calls the user's Avatar.

I'm not familar with yaxay enough, but I hope this helps!

mashby

7alem:Due to the fact that Yaxay has an image for "Super Mod" as well as the status for it as well, I'd have to say that I think this is a hack of some sort. To do it without a hack, you'd have to choose between having an image, or having text if you want it that separated. If you kept the images next to the text, then you could have both. Just follow my instructions from the earlier post.

chiel: The stars are included in PM's if you have the user titles listed in your PM. I think they are by default, so it should work just fine.

This is a nice hack, m8 :) *clicks install* But I wonder if anyone has some other icons I could use instead of stars, since we've got about 15+ user titles and around 600 posts, everyone has 5 stars...

And I also noticed that some people didn't have stars, so I had to refresh the user titles in the CP before everyone had the stars...not sure if that was posted, but hope that helps :)

mashby
12-06-2002, 06:21 PM
I suppose you could use any image set you'd like. I chose stars because it's part of the original install of vB, but you could choose any image you like.

You can also set your rating system to anything you like. Since you have an active community, perhaps you'd need to bump your classifications a little higher. Again, it's entirely up to you.

Good tip on refreshing the User Titles. I installed this mod before launching my forum, so it wasn't an issue for me, but it's a good tip for anyone installing this with an already active board.

Ok when you want to add stars to your moderator and admin
Go to:
User groups.
Edit Admin, Super Mod and Mod

And add after each of the titles:
<br><img src="http://yourhost.com/forum/images/5stars.gif">

quickstang22
12-19-2002, 07:15 PM
Ok I added the <br><img src="http://yourhost.com/forum/images/5stars.gif">

To the Admin and Moderators. The stars show up in the AdminCP but not on the board. It is going to be a pain adding the starts to each Mod Manually.

dont you have to close the quote of the usergroup name first? try adding a single quote ( " ) before the br...then try it
