Author: mashby
Description: This will teach you how to make the username in your postbit a link. When selected, it opens the Member Profile page in a pop-up window.
Demo: NPUG.org Demo (http://npug.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12207) - Click on the user name, or avatar in the postbit.
Note: This template mod can be modified to work in other templates as well. :)

Andromeda - actually, the layout of my Member Profile (getinfo template) is based on another template mod. You can find it at this link (http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mods/showthread.php?s=&threadid=96).
All my template mod does is make the link a popup window.
that is nice. will install soon.

Man this is a BEAUTIFUL modification :) Thank you very much!
Is it possible you can show us what to do exactly to change the links from Send user email & Send user PM from the text that is there now to buttons?
Thank you! :D

Glad you like the tempate mod. :)
For the e-mail button, I had to hard code it. Meaning that I simply included a an <img> tag for the button itself. I wanted to make it conditional, like the PM button, but I can't do it without a hack.
For the PM button, this is the code in the "getinfo" template
$userinfo[sendpm]
and in the "getinfo_pm" template I have the following:
<a href="private.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=newmessage&userid=$userinfo[userid]">
<img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/forum/images/sendpm.gif" border="0"></a>
<a href="private.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=newmessage&userid=$userinfo[userid]">
Send a Private Message!</a>

Thanks bro :) The PM thing worked sweet!
Just wondering how I would be able to hardcode the Email button in? I have no clue about HTML :(
Thanks again!!

So am I :) Thanks!
btw just have 2 small questions.
1 - How can I make the Group name colors change? For example, Mod is in green in here as well as in the profile page. Is there a link to a mod for this?
2 - Is there a template for the postbit you guys use here. Exactly the same looking available, or not released? :) Just curious
Thanks again!

1. I think that's a hack and not a template mod. So, you'll have to check vBulletin.org for that hack, since it's not supported here.
2. There's not an "exact" copy of SaintDog's postbit, but this mod (http://www.vbulletintemplates.com/mods/showthread.php?s=&threadid=185) is about as close as you can get. :)

Heineken,
Saintdog has already stated that he's not releasing any images, or styles from vBT. I know you were only kidding, but you don't want to to poke the tiger on this one.

I came up with this tweak by myself, but it's not rocket science, so anyone could have had the same idea. :)

It would appear that you haven't made it a pop-up window. You need to include the javascript that creates the new window and sizes it on the forum display page as well.

I'm wondering if I'm not getting something -
I took a look at the sample links on page one, and the member profile isn't a pop-up. The link opens a page in the same window.
Have I overlooked something?

No, I've recently upgraded my forums and along the way, I'm cleaning up some code. The pop-up code is not working at the present time. It should be fixed by the end of the week.

Come back to edit this.
I have the members linked to the memberlist and linked post to the top 20 posters page, however, I would still like to know how I can get the pop up for top thread starter.
Thanks :D
