vBClock
version 1.3
DIFFICULTY: Beginner/Simple
TIME TO INSTALL: Less than 5 minutes
Templates to edit: 2
New phrases: 1
New files to upload: 6 (1 .php, 2 .html, 2 .gif, 1 .mid)
This adds an auto-updating javascript clock (ie: the seconds "tick") that is displayed in the WELCOME area of the NAVBAR. When you click on the phrase "The current time is" it opens a new popup window that displays the current time in every time zone. If you click on the alarm clock icon it opens a popup window that has an alarm clock which the user can either enter their own alert message, or they can play a midi file audio alert at a pre-selected time (the audio alert function seems to work on IE only at this point). If you click on the stopwatch icon it will open a popup window with a stopwatch. The stopwatch has stop/start, pause, reset and split time functions.
SEE SCREENSHOTS
INSTALL INFO
1) Upload the contents of the UPLOAD folder to your forum ROOT directory. If you want to change the alert file then simply substitute a midi file of your own and be sure to name it "alert.mid"
2) Make the edits to the NAVBAR template as indicated in template-edits.navbar.txt
3) Make the edits to the headinclude template as indicated in template-edits.headinclude.txt
4) Add the new phrase as indicated in new.phrases.txt
5) That's it!

Cool,
Thanks :)
Installed and works fine but my pop up blocker blocks the alarm... clock works great though. Nice little add on!! :)

This is pretty cool. I installed this but it made my smilies not work in the reply. When you click on the smilie they didnt work you had to enter them manually.

weird :)Thanks for the info- I will look into it. I can't imagine why it would cause a conflict with the smilies since it does not edit any code that the smilies use

I think it has to do with the javascript in the code?
See the smilies work in the quick reply but as some as you 'go advanced' and click on a smilie it doesnt do anything. Also with just the time there it does the same thing I just found out.
Hope that helps you out.

I added this into my modified welcome panel and it is cool. The only problem is that most pop up blockers will blocl the alarm feature. Perhaps there is a better way to get that to work using another method simliar to how the info bar pop up works maybe...
That way it will not really be a pop up but will work just the same :)

Good job. I clicked install :)
However, some styling of this [https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=27387] would be of use.

Very nice.
Now the popup window for the alarm clock comes up just fine. When I click on the submit button nothing really seems to happen. Not sure if it even should. Now I set a time just a few minutes out and no alarm event occured either by message or audible.

I also had one user with the similes issue, although I couldnt recreate it in any browser.
Now I did experience one issue I could recreate. For people using Firefox/Mozilla, the advanced wysiwyg editor, you did not have the ability to post. The editor and all the graphics along with the smilies came up just fine but you were unable to write a single character.
I've had to remove the clock for now.

The problem is somewhere in the template........I removed the code added to the navbar template and smilies are working again.I figured it had to be there since that is the only real vb file that is modified. I will check in to it, as I said. I want a few minutes to site down and look at it, and those few minutes have been eluding me, but I promise I will get back to it.

excellent....working great. One question. I cant see it from the portal page (cmps) only when in the forums....any ideas?I had to add a conditional to the navbar template to only allow it to appear on certain pages. You will also not see it on showthread.php, newreply.php or private.php to avoid conflicts.
At your request I updated it to version 1.3, to include support for vBadvanced CMPS index.php
To upgrade fom 1.2 replace the navbar edits with those included in the zip, which I have updated.

i unstalled this because now it will not showing the time directly in navbarHuh? It was not a "fake upgrade"
It works for me and others, without any need to click on anything and the time is displayed directly in the navbar- ticking off seconds as advertised. None of that code has changed at all. I just moved the javascript to the header (not a problem there) and cleaned up the html, and limited it to not appear in the navbar on a few pages which I mentioned, so if anything it should work BETTER (and it does for me and everyone else who has tried it, and posted to this thread). Can you take a screenshot of what it looks like on the index page?
You will not see the clock on the "showthread.php" or "newreply.php" or "private.php" to avoid conflicts, but I don't think that makes it a "fake" update (whatever that means).

just got it installed
work like a champ
thanks a ton
btw: head up for those who use v3.0.7
in the navar the author will tell you to look for this :
<if condition="$show['pmstats']"><br /><phrase 1="$vbphrase[unread_x_nav_compiled]" 2="$vbphrase[total_x_nav_compiled]" 3="$session[sessionurl]">$vbphrase[private_messages_nav]</phrase></if>
but all you will see is this
<if condition="$show['pmstats']"><br /><a href="private.php?$session[sessionurl]">$vbphrase[private_messages]</a>: $vbphrase[unread_nav] <if condition="$bbuserinfo['pmunread']"><strong>$bbuserinfo[pmunread]</strong><else />$bbuserinfo[pmunread]</if>, $vbphrase[total] $bbuserinfo[pmtotal].</if>
and it is okie to put after that too
i tried it on mine and it works like a champ

Quick question....
I saw something similar in a user postbit. It is in the Profile, you set the time/date for an event you want to attend in the future, and the clock shows up in the postbit of a user's posts and the timer is ticking down. Can this be done with this?
I'm not a coder but have a forum. Be gentle please. ;)

Yes that would be lovely. I am running 3.5.4 and I would love this if it is updated to run on my version!
