vMembers

What is vMembers? Say a member buys your good via a vB subscription. If the good is a script, the members goes to vMembers, wherever you have it installed, and can download the script. However, before the member can download, the member is prompted to insert a domain name for the script and agree to your license agreement.

vMembers does not require any vB database or file changes. vMembers adds several templates, a bunch of phrases, and one new file with its own queries. While vMembers uses vB to login, vMembers does not need to be within the vB forum directory. You can install vMembers in its own directory, and name the new file what you choose.

vMembers works off vB's subscription and profile information. There is no ACP options for vMembers. Other than config settings in the new file, you can control vMembers using the current ACP. If you know how to run vB's subscriptions, then you can run vMembers. If you do not like vMembers, check out Ron1n's vBPurchase here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=83231).

If you install vMembers, click the install button. This allows you to receive update notices, should any be sent. It is also a nice way to say thanks!

From just a cursory review of vBPurchase...

vBPurchase 1.0.0:

- uses its own set of MySQL tables
- needs a minor vB file edit or two
- uses its own routine for PayPal
- set options via the vB admin CP
- runs within the forum directory

vMembers 1.0.0:

- uses vB's set of MySQL tables
- does not need any vB file edit
- uses vB's subscriptions/profiles
- set options in the file itself
- runs wherever you install it

This is not an exhaustive comparison.

Surely there are some other differences, but
basically it's two ways to do roughly the same
thing. Pick whatever one suits you better. ;)

calorie, I installed this hack and I dont' click install until i have it installed and working so here is my problem, I got all the instructions done but one thing gets me, I add a subscription and now I can't get it to show up on my product listing page, can you help please?

@Mythotical: You actually need to be subscribed to the subscription for it to be on your vMembers page. The only subscriptions that show on the vMembers page are those for which that particular member has subscribed. Once a member subscribes, via PayPal or via ACP, the subscription will show on the vMembers page. ;)

But how does that show the product for people who will want to buy it?

The goods you have for sale show on your forum_dir/subscriptions.php page.

EDIT: Just edit the vB Phrase upgrade_renew and set it to Buy/Upgrade/Renew or Goods for Sale or whatever you want. The vMembers page is meant to regulate downloads and such for already subscribed members.

The "... does not have any paid subscriptions available to which you can subscribe" message is a vB message saying that you haven't setup any subscriptions. Go to vB's ACP => Subscriptions => Subscription Manager to see the things you are offering for sale.

I have setup a test subscription and still nothing shows up. I even made sure it was active as well.

Hi there

Im new to vb so im still learning

I have installed this to my site but i cannot get it to work i know i must be doing some thing wrong.

I have the members.php page showing no problem there.
the problem is adding in the subscriptions as far as i can tell.

i have a subscription called Pnmmleague module so i put this in here like this
