Change colour on new/read topic

When a member post a topic it is colour green when other member read this thread its colour changes to yellow/ white, hot topics colour changes to red, depending on the admins setting for colour combination, is there any hack regarding this feature, thanks

I made a hack for this for my own site a while back on vb2.0 and never released it. If there is some interested maybe I will make it again for 3.5.
