I see hacks tracking spiders, how does that differ from guests?Spiders are guests.
The only spider tracking hacks I know are real time displays, they don't count the number of unique visitors over time.

well there's the currently viewing subforum option in vboptions (I have it disabled because I don't want it running in every forum, just in one), so wouldn't there be a way to track it from those users?so you don't think there's a way to tie into the default viewing subforum option in the admincp in order to track users to a specific subforum?

Just to be clear here since people keep asking about can it do this/that/the other - I have no plans to make any changes to this - it does what is was designed to do - and that's it as far as I'm concerned. :)

You said vb didn't keep track of that, but then vb has the option to show users currently viewing subforums, which is why I brought that up (because to me that seems to indicate vb does keep track of that in some form).
Paul M

Just like guests, vb does not keep a record of it, people viewing sub-forums is just a realtime display, at the point of viewing. :)

That's a cutom style - even if you manually put the template code in it wouldn't work correctly without being modified. You can find the code in the Display_Visitors template.

@ Paul M
I posted it in page 48 of this thread and I'm posting this again
for your attention. I very much appreciate the hack but
It always resulted to duplicate display (meaning 2 Members who have visited the forum) at forum home.
Kindly help, I think I miss something, or "over-installed" it!

My apologies if this has asked before, but:
How can I move the location that this shows up in? Since I don't have to make any changes to the forumhome template for it to work, does that mean it's impossible?
Paul M
03-28-2006, 04:13 PM
@ed2k - at some point you upgraded from an older version to the newer version, and did not follow the upgrade instructions.
To upgrade from version 4.01/4.02 to version 4.10 onwards, you need to uninstall the product and remove the template code in FORUMHOME - then upload the new product.
To upgrade from version 3.xx to version 4.xx you need to delete the existing plugin and remove the template code in FORUMHOME - then upload the new product.
@Mark Raven - more difficult rather than impossible.

My apologies if this has been asked before, but can we also show the number of guests who have visited within 24 hours? It seems this mod (see below) can do it but I'd like to incorporate it with in the same mode (which I like a lot) if possible. It's not possible for this hack to count guests.
FYI, that other hack counts entries in the session table - a very unreliable method at best, and changing the clean-up routines to only remove old sessions once a day is (IMO) a very bad idea.

Just curious as I was looking at the xml - my first thought would be no as I couldn't find a way to do this, however, would it be possible to integrate this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=93099) hack with your hack? I can't find a way to do it, but want to know if it could be possible. I could see how it might if the data was pushed in the forumhome template, but I don't see how it would as the plugin suggests otherwise.
Paul M

In theory it would be possible with a bit of work - i.e. writing some extra code in the plugin, and altering the SQL query.

Hi Paul,
I have done added the update but now the options are not in there :(
Step 2.
Change the settings in 'vBulletin Options > Forums Home Page Options' as required.
I have gone right through them and all I can see is:
Script Name for Forum Home Page
Display Logged in Users
Display Today's Birthdays
Display Calendar Events
Display Custom Holidays
Upcoming Event Type
Active Members Time Cut-Off
Active Members Options
I have reinstalled it and yes overwrite. Also un-installed it and reinstalled it and refreshed my admincp a good few times and nothing is there :(
Thanks for any help :)

If you want to show only the total number at your ForumHome and the members who have visited the forum on a new page.
Download the attached zip.
Copy online_today.php in your forum Home directory.
Extract the XML file and import it into vBulletin as a product (using the ACP product manager).
Change the settings in 'vBulletin Options > Who has visited today' as required.
If you want to display Visitors on a new page set "Who Visited - Display Names" to 'no' and then set "Who Visited - On a new page" to 'yes'.
works beautifully

It's a daily count from (your) midnight, so yes, it resets everyday at midnight. It's not supposed to remember anything from one day to the next - if you want a long term remembered highest - use the add-on (linked below the zip file).

How do i restrict viewing of this plugin to certains groups of users?
It's a great MOD btw....thanks.
Paul M

Point 9 from the list of features covers this.
9. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option (vBulletin Options > Who has visited today).

Hi,
I'm currently on the way of updating our board. As we have many visitors per day I would like to hide the users who has visited our board today for all users who are not loged in (e.g. bots ;)).
In order to add this functionality I think I have to modify you xml file starting in line 118. (add a if clause and check the user status in order to replace the var $whotoday. Is there anything else I have to look at from your point of view?
Thanks!

I love this hack, really, I do. Thank you very much, Paul M, for coding it.
Wondering if it's at all possible to have it omit certain usergroups from appearing though. I have a usergroup set with limited privileges, and I don't want them appearing in the list until they move into the Registered Users group.
Paul M

Sorry, there is no facility to omit usergroups as that would defeat the basic purpose of the hack. The best you could do is set them to hidden, then only mods with permission to see hidden users would see them (they are still counted).

That seems to be due to your usergroup markup code, you have a mixture of divs, spans and font tags, for example ;
<a rel="nofollow" href='member.php?u=111' title='03:12 PM' ><span style="font-weight: bold;">Headlackey</span></a>,
<a rel="nofollow" href='member.php?u=88' title='04:36 AM' ><div style=width:50%; font-size:14pt; color:white; >hypr69</span></a>,
<a rel="nofollow" href='member.php?u=2' title='08:22 AM' ><b><font color="red">Incrediblehawk</b></font></a>,
Mikecp421
05-15-2006, 08:47 PM
oh ok, that screws it up? Whats the solution? Take those html markups away? cause I have it also on the other forum, www.meogee.com, and that doesn't occur. As a matter of fact that forum has always had those markups.
Paul M
05-15-2006, 09:21 PM
Fix the markup - if you look at the second example, you start with a div, end with a span, clearly that's not correct.
<div style=width:50%; font-size:14pt; color:white; >hypr69</span></a>,

No.
It you want it to inject the html automatically, you need to add the comment <!-- end logged-in users --> in the template as this is what it looks for - otherwise manually copy the contents of the Display_Visitors template into your FORUMHOME template.

RC1 is not a production version of vb and the current version of this mod is not tested with it. You really should update.
I would guess the error maybe something to do with the settings (check them in vBulletin Options > Who has visited today) make sure they are all valid.

Hello Paul,
your code is not XHTML conformal. There an error is in line 129 in it!
Line 129 with me: $whotoday .= "<a rel=\"nofollow\" href='member.php?u=$today[userid]' title='$wrdate' >";
Line 129 is so correct: $whotoday .= "<a href='member.php?u=$today[userid]' title='$wrdate' >";
Then also again the XHTML is conformal ;) I the changed file here attached.

The plugin uses "search and inject" to add the Display_Visitors template to your FORUMHOME output. You would need to change the phrase it looks for ($searchtext) and possibly modify the Display_Visitors template to match the new location.
