View Full Version : Anyone have the newer/current release ??
Does anyone have it and would you be willing to share it with us? I'd really rather install a newer version then 3.1.1 with noppid's 3.0.5 update. I don't understand why he took his contribution off of the site and I don't need to. All I know is he made progress over the original release by magnus and I'd much rather have something ready made then go trying to make-it-work.
So if you have a newer release from noppid please PM me. I'll host it for everyone, I don't mind.. but we need to get this release out to the public.
This hack is a HUGE contribution to automotive sites and should be released.
I noticed a few users posting requests for the newer/current copy of vBGarage and the mods are now editing posts and or removing the requests.. I wonder why I wasn't silenced when I started this thread..? Anyhow, I received a copy of each of the un-supported newer vBGarage versions and I'd like to say thanks to vb.org users!
I appreciate being sent the Noppid releases but I really can't decide which releases to use be it Magnus' or any of Noppids. I'm having trouble making either fit my needs. I like the changes Noppid made to his release and I'm sure the updates were necessary but Magnus' release is still quicker and in its simplicity seems stronger. I just hope this new talk of Noppid supporting vBGarage again is not just rumor and I hope he doesn't try to re-invent the wheel. :ermm:
These are just a few suggestions of mine regarding Noppid's vBGarage release(s).
Car List: I myself would like to see this feature done away with. Even on my local automotive forum we have no need for such a feature. On our site one brand of car brings us together and we only need to list 1 car per user. I'd like to see this as an add-on more so then a feature in the vBG package. I understand the direction but do not directly see it necessary or worthy of time and dedication to further this feature. Some will surely need it but most will not, to streamline development the whole code should not surround this module.
User Garage: Noppid should include a few different options of layout for modification users. I myself prefer the layout Magnus used with fixed column widths. However I enjoy Noppids use of thumbnails. I'd much rather see something similar to the code I used on my own site seen here (http://www.suprascene.com/teamtribal/crew/joshs/). I'd like to use thumbnails and when clicked would change the larger resize.. then when larger resize clicked full-size would open in it's own window the same way Magnus did it. I understand the direction Noppid was taking with the windows but I prefer a cleaner look a fitted look of Magnus' full-size image popup.
In conclusion I've noticed Magnus' last vBG release is quicker in image generation then Noppids 4.1.0 all variables constant. I can't explain this with all the optimization Noppid has done but there must be some major differences.
I'm not attacking Noppid or anyone just voicing my opinion on the code. I can contribute but not at such a level of Magnus or Noppid.. in comparison i'd be a script kiddy. :squareeyed:
