I dont want to hack my board only to have it get messed up wtih the move to 3.5. How close to release is 3.5? What features will it offer? Maybe Im better off using a vanilla 3.0 and then hacking when 3.5 comes out?

If I had to decide, I'd wait. 3.0.7 has plenty of solid features out of the box, and the final 3.5 is probably going to be out in a couple months. Plus any hacks you add now that haven't already been updated to work with 3.5 might never get updated, so you'd end up having to lose them anyway. That's just my personal opinion.

If you're prepared to rewrite parts of your modifications as different betas/the final of 3.5 come out, I'd start off with that now. I wouldn't go off and hack a 3.0.7 board anymore though, as this will require a rewrite for sure!

I would consider the fact that a new competitor to your forum could be thinking exactly the same thing, but get 3.0.7 and have a head start :p
