OK. So I bought WSN Gallery and have like no support, then I hear about Coppermine, 4images, photopost.

In you opinion what is the best. I'm looking for these features

- VB Integration (meaning members can jump inout from the gallery to messagboard at ease)
- Only 1 VB custom usergroup will have the permissions to have the gallery to use. While the regular logged members will have access to view it.
- Rating system for images
- Comment section

WSN had these features but I tried integrating it and it flopped. I seen some tutorials for 4images and coppermine. and heard of VBGallery. I need a good stable one that works well with vbulletin which I'm using

In a nut shell, my site is about Female Mustang Enthusists. Its a site where quote "Stangettes" get to showcase themselves with their stang. I have gotten many email submissions so far. Non Stangettes (registered members) will have the ability to visit, view and even vote and comment in the showcase. while also excessing the community (vbulletin) . I hope this helps.

Thank You

IMO coppermine out performs photopost, 4images and all of the rest. We used to have it integrated with our design and vbulletin registration system of our Mustang site, but I took it down since it didn't get used that much.

I do have Coppermine installed on one of my other sites: http://www.britneyspearsworldwide.com/Britney_Spears_Photos/index.php As you can tell, we completly redesigned the entire structure of our coppermine system. Right now its completely integrated with our design, as soon as we get our forums up, it will be integrated with that as well!

I just like the simple feel and structure better than photopost. Not to mention coppermine has many usefull features that photopost doesny have. Like the ability to send very nice E-Cards via e-mail!

Screw it. I will take my loss on WSN and use coppermine. Thanks Rick. I seem to follow any Mustang enthusist. and Well Britney spears is so hot (not a fan of her music) . let me know if you see her with a Stang. I could ask her to be a Stangette :lick:

vBadvacned's gallery is quite abit less when compared to other solutions :)

Price: $59.99 for RC4 I think the price is going to go up with the final release, but it shoudln't be too much :)

vbadvanced gallery > photopost.

i started with coppermine. then dished out the $129 for photopost for the one year license. less than a couple months into it, vbadvanced gallery came out and i compared specs and decided to spend 1/3rd of what i did on photopost and hope for the best.

it was a GREAT decision. in short.

vbadvanced Gallery > photopost > coppermine

Well since I was building a new site. I dished out domain name, hosting package, vbulletin, font (yes i paid for the font), and WSN Gallery which I was very very disappointed in, not because of the possibilities, but when i asked a question for support, all I got was one word answers :ermm: So I bit the bullet , took my loss (decided not to pay for another gallery for now) and successfully installed Coppermine with integration with VB. Of course it doesn't have as many features as VBA Gallery but its free and its everything I need it for.

Thank you all for your kind sugesstions. Its defintially been a ride trying to get the gallery side of my site working. Now for the other 100 things :tired:

vBaG is good but Photopost is just as good.

i'm using vBaG simply because is uses the vB template system and the code is easier to modify for my own purposes.

but Photopost got a code rewrite with version 5 and they pioneer alot of great features that are a long way off from vBaG.

Pioneer? More like steal (ever notice that most of their software contains a lot of "borrowed" vb code?). And their support isn't very good either.

Thanks. If you like. I just finished the main customization for the coppermine gallery at Stangette. You don't need to register. Just click on http://www.stangette.com/community and click showcase at the top right. Its almost hard to make out they are different scripts (VB and Coppermine) Still needs some tweaking (with the languages, don't like some of the wording) but I'm pretty happy.

Photopost doesn't borrow anything from vB, except vB integration, which they have to do.

Their code is so ugly, it's an insult to vB if it was borrowed from them ;)

the photopost support ist not the best and the installation + the rest of the script ist pure horror. vbadvanced is great...easy to install

Simply not true and borderline slanderous. In fact, PhotoPost code is so vastly different from vBulletin code that we are often critized for not copying their style! That we integrate with vBulletin (and was the first gallery software to do so) means that we share functionality with vBulletin, but to suggest that we have stolen code is simply irresponsible.

PhotoPost continues to release features that no other gallery has and has been innovating features for photo gallery software for years; the list of "firsts" in PhotoPost are extensive. PhotoPost has been out for more than 4 years and continues to provide timely updates.

As for support, most of those issues were resolved a very long time ago - the addition of new support staff coupled with a change in policies which make it easier for us to interact with our customers has led to a dramatic turnaround in our support relationship with our customers. If you look at the last 6 months you'll see a dramatically different support system than in years past.

mustang_lex nice racey site :) And though as a female I like mustangs, I MUCH prefer the vettes. ;)

And coppermine is great. I don't have the extra cash to throw around to try vbgallery, but I don't doubt it's value. I just am used to coppermine and like how it integrated.
