Hi,

First of all I do not know why would anyone have 2 sets of pre-sales forums (www.vbulletin.org and www.vbulletin.com)

We are deciding between vbulletin and UBB.threads. Right now we are leaning more towards vbulletin. We need to purchase this by the end of friday. There are a few questions we needed to aks before going ahead.

1. We need a ranking system for members where one member can rank another member. Is this possible? if No, is there a hack for it?

2. We want to customize it and add banner and sky ads to them. How easy is it?

3. Our current boards is a really old UBB board. Recently some marketing company has been posting a lots of unwanted unrealted posts on our boards and this is causing a lot of problems. The email domain is sauditrades.com. Is there a way we can block such people from posting?

4. Is there a way to avoid auto posting in the sense there is a word inside an image that you need to type in order to signin and post thus avoiding auto posting?

5. Is there a way to import UBB perl BB to vbulletin?

6. What is the most popular and preferref payment portal used for the payment process?

7. We publish articles on one of our website and would like to use this as a section for comments. So everytime an editor publishes an article
(a) I should be able to run a querya nd create a new thread
(b) Get the id for this thread so that I can associate this thread with the article

I'll anwswer the ones I know and let someone else cover the others.

1. The rank system is part of vB.

2. customizing is not too difficult. adding custom banners and ads are generaly easy to take care of.

3. There is ip blocking. it isn't fool proof, but for the most part does the trick.

4. I am not sure what auto-posting is. So that one i can't help you on. but if i had to take a stab at what you are saying you are asking if bots can post. No they can't.

Someone else care to answer the rest of the questions.

1. vBulletin comes by default with a ranking system that you can enable/disable.

2. Adding banners can be done in different ways by simply editing a Template. There are also more sophisticated Banner managing methods, but these require code changing. You can find a few here at vbuletin.org

3. you can block registration by ip and/or email domain.

4. Standard vBulletin don't have image verification on posting. It has however on registration. vBulletin comes standard with censorship options, these could also prvent posts with unwanted text. To have image verification on post would require code change.

5. Check on vbulletin.com. There is a sticky topic listing all possible conversion in the Import System forum. If your forum is not listed, you can ask if it could be made.

6. You mean to pay for your vBulletin license, or a payment system for members? vBulletin has buildin option for paid subscriptions using 4 major payment processors. More could be added.

7. This would be very well possible, but will require custom coding.

8. No vBulletin only supports MySQL.

Thank you for your interest in vBulletin, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

PS The main Pre-Sales forum is located at vbulletin.com.
