I'm looking for a way to do a Graphical (jpg/gif/swf) username. Like the Custom Avatar portion in the UserCP. If someone has found this or has a way to do it, please LMK.
Thanks.
P.S. The "SWF" portion isn't really necessary, but would be kinda cool.

If they can just upload whatever they want, why not just not show the name and have them use the avatar then as identification?
Or do you mean something else? Not to mention it would be hella hard if people started cloning other people's names, etc. Maybe you mean auto-creating an image for their name?

Maybe something like having the username as <img src="$usernameimage" alt="" /> where $usernameimage is the image path they select...

The ugly way?
I would create a custom profile field for users to enter the url and use template conditionals to hide the username display in the postbit and show the image instead if that field wasn't empty.
(its not that bad to to do the conditional, ive posted the basics a few times).

I would do it with gd, have a list of fonts they can use, or colors and have it create based on user name.
This way no one could fake a username and save head ackes in the future.

I was thinking of moving the textual username into the postbit above the "location" cell, and then just having the graphical username above the avatar. It would just be another way where users could be more "unique" from others. It might possibly be a cool uShop addon to add to the store.
