The Equivocate

I am opening a pro wrestling site at http://www.TheSquaredCircle.com and a friend is opening an MMA site at http://www.AllFight.com. We want to use the same database, so members only have to sign up once and the post counts and account information will be used on both forums.
We want each site to have it's own unique skin, titles, etc, and we also want the arrangement of forums to be different for each of the sites. My wrestling site would show the wrestling forums first, and his MMA site would show the MMA forums first. Then the opposite site's forums would be compacted (some made subforums since it's not the central topic of that site) and displayed below the site topics' forums.
Two sites that I know do this are www.namepros.com and www.webdesigntalk.net - two seemingly different sites, but they share the same database.
How can we go about doing this? Also, would we need 2 different licenses, even though we're technically only using one database?
