Hey guys, I have determined that Harry Potter site kinda bit the dust, so I closed it permanently so I've closed it. Instead, I've taken up a topic that's a bit closer to my heart. In cooperation with ericgtr, of Guitars101 (http://guitars101.com) , I have started putting together a new site, Basses101 (http://basses101.com) , geared toward bassists. Actually, Eric secured the domain for me. I did the rest. Please take a look and comment. If you're a bassist, or other interested musician, please join. I can use all the help I can get in getting things off the ground. Thanks.

Apart from the header I like this style a lot! Is it a custom one :)?

Completely. There's really a few images that make it up. One is a dark brushed aluminum tile I made in PSP, four are the little screws, two are the left and right rack mount things. The case border is nothing but cleverly nested and bordered divs. The cat and head toggle switches are obvious. I did it all myself, and I'm not quite done with it either, but most of the templates can be edited live without interfering with the board. That header was designed originally for another skin design I was considering, but didn't use. I may rework it later.
Thanks for the kind words Dean.

Bah! I changed my email address and now I have to update my license info at vb.com. I'll take care of that shortly...

I love all the little detailed items you have in their! Looks real great! The only thing I would change would be to make the blacks a light grey of somesort just to freshen stuff up a little :) Looks good so far though :)

Hmm.. That's a really cool concept to make them look like rack mounted gear. Original idea.

Rick, you mean the tbordered areas? If so, that wouldn't fit with the effect I'm trying to create. In typical rack mounted amps/effects, the main face is a brushed aluminum and any panels with controls on them (with the expection of LED windows) are flat black and mounted to the main face from behind. If you look REAL close, turn your monitors brightness all the way up, or view it at night, you'll see that the tborder bg is really a flat black tiles with a faint diagonal glare highlight. Typical of PAR can light relections while on stage. Most everything is there for a reason, except the header. I do appreciate the comment though, I just wanted to explain WHY I used black.
:)
KT, Thanks, that's what I was going for. It was original, pleasing and worked well with both the topic and the vB templates.

Nice style. I love the background image you have between the table. Makes it stand out from regular all-black forum schemes. Header seems a bit out of place though.
Nice work. :)

Looks nice, I don't see anything that needs changing on there. Maybe add the footer text into the main box so everything is the same width :ermm:
I'm no great fan of dark styles, but it's pretty good. If one bad thing stuck out it was the header and this http://basses101.com/images/buttons/lastpost.gif

Overall - very nice looking - allthough personally I don't like sites with fixed widths - 50% of my screen is just blank.
Also - go to the members list - the e-mail icon sticks out like a sore thumb ! - and the blue arrow next to the words "User Name" as well.
