A vbulleting based LMS would be awesome. I imagine the demand would be huge.

All you have to do is make a new lesson a new thread and have the script give out the new thread to the person taking the training one a day (or whatever rate you choose).

Hello,
Couldn't you use the Geek Article System for that? You could create new "Lessons", and add them daily. I know that with vBadvanced, you can create a recent articles module. If you set permissions for only those people taking lessons, they would only be the ones that could see the most recent lesson, and therefor they would be taking the class. Others are oblivious that the module is even there. If the articles forums were hidden, and only showed to those people that have the permissions set, you could create a school within your site just for those students to see. Run that over once and see if that would help resolve what you are trying to do.

Possibly ...

But if someone started the course at a different point in time, they wouldn't be portioned out the classes in time relative to their start date.

So, a guy signs up for the class and gets day one.

Tomorrow he's given day two and maybe even a little quiz for review.

Do a search for "learning management system" on google and you'll see the kind of thing I'm looking for.

You could do it with subforums and promotions :)

Not a bad idea ... :-)

Maybe an integration with something like Moodle would be easier, though ...

I'd be VERY interested in this sort of thing if someone would market it.
