Hi everyone, last night I launched my "Down With iPod" forum, it is an MP3 Player discussion forum, with the exception of iPod We have our reasons for disliking it.
I have just spent a few days making it perfect, if anythings wrong feel free to point it out (as you normally would )

Any comments / suggestions are welcomed :)
Thanks

I agree with zachery. Get an unstock style as at the moment your site doesn't scream out originality to me, also perhaps it would have been a better idea to create a forum about mp3players? You're crazy to try and go up against iPod and your site won't change peoples opinions.

I had to laugh when you said the iPod has a poor control system--the very feature that made it capture 90% of the HDD-based MP3 player market and 60% of the market overall. But each to his own.

I'll go to wal-mart and get my high quality digital recording with out having to be a subscriber or wired.
I will take it home and play it on my non wired non subscribed private Hi-Fi System.
You guys are making these idiots rich in more ways then one and listening to second class recordings. Plus they are tracking all your moves and purchases to annoy you with more sales pitches.
But, to each his own.
Oh and BTW. I wonder how the guy that called Linus an idiot for going up against his market feels today?

By your rationale, there is absolutely no privacy in any legally acquired music, whether through digital services or through physical CDs. You're supporting the RIAA in each way as well to varying degrees. Remember, with an iPod, the majority of people who load it with legally acquired music do so by ripping their CDs, not by downloading music from iTunes.
Then again, I don't have anything to hide with my music, so while I don't enjoy that they "track" me, I don't do anything about it. Just like I wish TiVo didn't upload my Season Passes back to TiVo but I'm not watching porn or anything through Season Passes so I don't care.
But this thread is for critiquing his forum, so let's stay on that topic.

Why does everyone assume one is bad because they demand privacy?
Anyway my comment was to encourage his forum and point out that more then one person that went against the grain has succeeded.

The theme is "ok".
Looks like most every vb/CMPS based forum out there in which the owner bought the theme.
I have noticed recently many variations of that same theme. Doesnt look like you have done much customizing at all. Not really sure what you are looking for in ways of comments.
The left column modules run twice as far down as the Center news column and there is only one module on the right. Looks outta balance. You might consider moving that one to the left which will make the center column fill the gap. Then get more posts to fill the difference between the left and center. It looks lopsided
:tired:
on your navigation module "MP3 Player Features" you havent finished adding all your links or you forgot to remove the blanks.

I totally agree that people should look to alternatives to the Ipod, it simply isn't the best out there and people buy it for the hype. As for the forum, it looks as if you've customised the settings, added a bought style and that is it. It doesn't look finished or that you've put any effort into making the design link with the subject title.
I'd suggest customising the style, getting more posts, adding a few related modifications and asking for a review once you've done all that. :)

I've seen this look so many times but I like it because it's nice and clean. I agree that a more positive domain name would be better. Besides Apple could come after you if they wanted. Ipod is a trademark of Apple computers.

Why dont you use your sig for your header as it would look better. I like the style as it seems nice and clean.
