How do i?

i would like to do the following if possible :)

a guest can see my forum in full (which is what they can do now)

but when they register id like them to only be able to see the "welcomes and introductions" forum (where my automatic registration thread has been created)

and they must reply to the welcome by me before they can see the whole forum

is this possible?

Yes:

- Your Unregistered usergroup: Set to view all forums
- Your Registered usergroup: Set to view and post only intro forum
- New usergroup for those that can view and post in the whole board.
- Add a Promotion from REgistered to you new group after 1 post.

ive created a new usergrop and and changed permissions so they can only see the welocme section but when i test it they can still see all forums :(

what the hell am i doing wrong

You have set it as the users primary usergroup?

yeh have ste it so when a member registers they go into a usergroup called awaiting activation then as soon as their post count reaches 1 they will be changed to newbie

but they can still see the forums for some reason lol

The Users awaiting confirmation is a special group. If someone register, and you have set Email Verification to Yes, they will be placed in this group until they confirm their email. After this they are placed in the Registered Users group.

You should setup a Promotion from the Registered Users group after 1 post into a new group.

"newbie" sounds more like a rank then a usergroup to me.

Usertitles have nothing to do with permissions. They are just text.

You will need to setup Usergroups->Promotions

And setup a promotion after 1 post from REgistered User to a new Usergroup after 1 post.

ok ive done that but how do i stop the usergroup from seeing all forums except the welcome one?

ive gone into forum permissions and set it up for that usergroup but they can still see everything

if "that usergroup" is the new group you created, it should be setup to see all

Your registered users group should be set to only see this 1 forum.

no i want the new one ive created to only be able to see welcome thread and then once they post they will be promoted to newbie and can see all

ive change dthe settings on the new usergroup so they should only have access to welcome threads but it dont work :(

so it got to be the registered one taht i edit to only seeing the one forum then jump them to the new one ok mate ill try that then
