Hi all,

I've been informed that a feature which I have requested many times is actually in vBulletin 3.0.7; the feature being 1 week before a users subscription is up, it emails the user informing them to renew it if they wish.

Is it possible to take out the code for this and put it in vBulletin 3.0.3 and more importantly, would it work?

If so, could someone give me some information on how to do this? :)

Cheers,

Matt

(P.s - I don't wish to upgrade to 3.0.7 as I don't want to lose the skin which took me many days to complete to perfection and lose all my mods which I've spent days putting into my forum)

Personally, I would hate to touch this one with a ten foot pole and risk the ire of jelsoft. I know upgrading is a pain, but it's really best to keep your board up to date for security reasons as well as to take advantage of any new features.

Xtrm well it is possable have some fun reading code. i havent looked at that part of vb's code so your on your own in that area. you may want to run a test board take 3.03 and upgrade it to .07 then check out the style to see how bad its messed up. (that way may be faster than getting the option to automatically do it for ya)

The point I'm making is I have no time to mess around upgrading the board and trying to re-do all the styling and re-do all the mods I put into 3.0.3.

The only other option would be to hire someone, and I am almost certainly NOT doing that; hence me asking for the only feature I need! :)

If you don't want to hire someone, and don't want to upgrade, all you can do is try to have a look for it yourself. Nobody will want to burn their fingers on this. My suggestion would be to have a look at the cronjobs in vB3.0.7

Why would people be "burning their fingers" with this - it's just a mod like any other ?

That said - I'm confused as to why upgrading from 3.0.3 to 3.0.7 would mess up a style in the first place ?

It would be burning my fingers because Jelsoft charges $30 per year for people to get upgrades. If we release the upgrades as hacks for free here, then people don't have to pay. This cuts Jelsoft's revenue and I don't believe it would make them happy.

I'm not saying they would forbid the release. I'm just saying I am not willing to take it on personally.

I rather think its because no one will want to waste time on this when you should be upgrading. vb3.0.3 has some security holes and people are getting hacked because of it and thier sites defaced and hit with trojans.

Go download winmerge from sourceforge, its free.

Compare your hacked vb to an unhacked vb3.0.3 to see what files you hacked.

Here is a list of files that changed between vb 3.0.3 and vb [url=http://www.theadminzone.com/forums/showpost.php?p=63017&postcount=10]3.0.7[url]

Use winmerge to rehack the vb3.0.7 files with your hacks.

upload, run upgrade, your done.

A simple solution is to not post this publically and if you are willing to help me with this, then email me :)

As for the cronjobs, can't really see anything..

I'm going to try this comparison thing :)
