first of all YOU CAN'T!!!

Save it as a PNG file. GIF files by design don't have the same image quality as JPG files.

Eh hem, You can too, I've been using PS since 5.0 and you danged well can save an image in whatever extension photoshop supports.

Depending on your version will be differnt ways to get to differnt results.

Seeing as you want to use this on the web your best bet will be to use the File > Save for Web Feature. and optmize a gif image.

:)

You mean the matting or somthing else? Gif images are actually MUCH MUCH higher in overall quailtiy because it uses a lossless compression, while JPG's use lossy compression giving you smaller files.

Can you specificly show us an example of what you are trying to do?

transparent png files are not well supported by Internet Explorer

No transparent PNG files are supported just fine by IE, its alpha transparent PNG's that IE has issues with.

if you goto my site www.ureside.com and look at the logo image, you can see the line on the right of it that has the color difference. that is the original image from vbstyles that i got, i just changed the wording, added a layer. But why is it a different color!? what i want, is a transparent graphic, with my logo and and graphic layer. I want it to be transparent so all my skins can use the same logo.

look at site right now, there are jagged edges around the "ureside" text, how do i make them smooth!?

You either need to put the image behind it make sure your matting color when saving it as a gif is correct so it looks fine.
