I'm looking for a new "Notification Type" when subscribing to a forum as an addition to the current options. Some of my users would prefer to receive a single email for every post made, with the full post contents in the email, rather than a daily summary which only has links.

I figure since they're asking for it, it's not spam...so I may as well add it if I can find it. These are users who are business travellers who can't always get to the forum but can always get email, and so would like to get the posts as posted, in full, so they can keep up with the discussion.

Does anyone know of such a hack either already written or is anyone interested in creating one?

I know it has been discussed before recently, not sure if a hack was made.

I doubt however that the reason given above by your users is a very valid one. It is easier to access a board then to access a mail server. So unless you got a lot of protections setup on your board (like only allowing certain IP-addresses), the above is not a very good reason.

There can ofcourse be other more valid reason for your users to want this, the question however should be: Do you as a board owner want to have members that don't visit your board (and therefor also not participating).

This is only true some of the time. If you are a business user, on a company trip, using a company laptop, receiving email via a dial up VPN connection to your office, which restricts other activiy, then it IS easier to get email than to a web board.

As to the other point about users who don't use the board - they do use the board. But they only post when they're at home. They're on the road so much they want a way to keep up on the current discussions even if they can't reply.
