I think we need a Paid Subscriptions category.
If created, can you move my hack...

Just to clarify for other readers, I think you meant a new category for the modifications :) Personally, I think it goes well in administrative tools

yes, that is exactly what I meant
I have edited post. thank you
You know .. at first I thought the administrative tools was a good place; but, a 'Paid Subscriptions' category would make things easier for members to find hacks related to "paid subscriptions".

Sure, but the question is how many subscriptions-related modifications do we have here? Very few I think the answer will be :)

yes, you are correct ...
here's a few that would be best categorized in Paid Subscriptions:

I don't think there'r many ppl who'r willing to write a hack for others to make profits ($$$) out of it.

He's not suggesting a forum for modifications which cost money to go in, he's suggesting a category for modifications which work with vBulletins built in subscriptions system :)

And I think this is a great idea because most of the questions I have are based on the Paid Subscriptions
I am constantly having to search for answers through out the baord when having them concentrated in a single section would make life so much simpler.
And about the money issue. We pay to have a VB licence and renew it each year. Infact I own three licences. I see no reason why someone can't make hacks to help modify something that needs it. And if that is how this forum is built, to have private people make hacks for a single site then this forum is going to the birds. I don't mind donating money to someone that helped make this product better if that hack they made helped.
Just my 2 cents

This forum (vb.org, to get support for the product you paid for, go to vb.com) is build upon volunteers offering their free time to create hacks. They will probably only do this if they also want to use on their own boards, see it as a nice task to handle, or for other reasons i don't know. You can not demand anything from our members.
If you really need something and you can not find a volunteer to do it for free, we have the Service Request forum where you can ask for someone who want to do it for payment.

For the record:
This request is to do with adding a forum for built-in vBulletin Subscription System Modifications
This has nothing to do with paying money for hacks...

I think Marco was referring to this part of that statement:

which has a negative connotation as I see it. ;)

Regarding the original topic here: right now we won't add any new categories, but once we have our new Hack DB in place there will be a bunch of options, please remind us if a category is missing then you would think could be usefull and we will add it :)

I apologise for my rude behavoir guys and gals. I am jsut very frustrated with how things are being handled.
Honestly speaking. I totally understand the fact that this forum is here to help people and mainly do it on their free time.
And really if someone spends the time to build a modifcation or hack that physically improves VB all together I don't mind giving a few bucks to them for their time if it helps me and everyone else out. I am dead set against those programmers selling their hacks singly and privatly to those that want to pay them enormous amounts of money when it should be openly discussed.
I see this forum as an open invitation for everyone as a whole to improve the product this site is SOLEY based on.
My 2 cents.

Yea, thats alot better than your first reply thanks for the apology. Also, yo u must understand that this forum is on a volunteer base only, it is not like jelsoft is paying the authors like Danny, Marco, Erwin, Brad, Paul, ANYONE to make these hacks, there just doing it to help out the community, we cannot MAKE people not ask for money for there hacks, I personally dont agree with charging for hacks ( unless it makes the user more money ) something like GeekyDesigns paypal hack for ushop..that I can see making people pay for but anything else I dont agree with people that ask for money, but you dont really have a choice.

You will see some hacks released and a link posted with the author's PayPal button. Click that if you feel like it. I personally do that with open/free software. If I like the product and use it, and the button is there, I'll click.
