I recently launched my latest project: Galadoria Online. Its a forum-based RPG with RPG features such as itemshop, battle system, and much more. All of these features were coded by myself, and they arent some of the RPG systems floating around here. Anyway, the board is closed to anyone that hasnt registered for a number of reasons, however i have a test account:

I concur. I'm an avid roleplayer myself, and your site looks interesting, but there isn't enough background on your 'realm' to make me click 'register' just yet. Fix that, let me read it, and I'd most likely join. The screenshots do look nice, but may be a bit image heavy. I assume you have a lightweight style for those on dialups?

how would you like me to comment a board which doesn't open for guests ?

There are screenshots. Most of the opinions on this particular forum are solely based on looks. So, theres the look of it.

Very very small screenshots, and I don't mean the thumbs either. SOme people have poor eyesight. I can't make much out.

and how can you tell if it even works on Mac if you don't run it and don't let people go to it?

Honestly...there isn't any harm in letting guests at least see the index, even all other major features are off, like members list, calendar, what's going on, and so forth. If you have your permissions set correctly, they won't be able to do anything, or read anything vital. To completely disallow seeing the board is a big tun off for a lot of people, many of which just may be your best players. Remember, the first rule of building ANY commnunity is to not endorse anything that may limit your audience.

Secondly regarding posting your forums for critique:
If your board is closed to guests, please include a username/password for people to use here.
People here will be honest. Don't take any comments too personally
Please provide a guest account or open the forums to guests for the time being.
Thank you

Ok, now that I've had a chance to look at it...
wow.
Seriously. Really nice. I plan on joining but I can't until probably two weeks dude to prior commits. You have some interesting changes. I'm not sure I would personally go to those lengths for an RPG, but you pulled it off. There are only two things I can see that might hinder some novice users.
1) It isn't laid out like a forum and therefore isn't as intuitive, though after a few minutes of browsing, things begin to make sense. I don't know how a newbie would handle that.
2) Really heavy on the images. You can count on your users not being dialups.
Other than that, kudos on the design. I look forward to adventuring there.

announcement icon just doesn't seem to fit with the skin ^^
other than that really nice job, not going to check out the way the RPG works (not into RPGs)

Thanks for the comments.
Yeah, I should do a lite version because there are a lot of images.

I really believe you would attract more users by droping the whole registration thing first, people who get a preview are going to jump at joining that (and not just pictures)

I guess you're right. I'll soon let the board be open to Guests to view. :)
