I was wondering if there was a hack available in where only new members would receive email notifications of any replies made to their posts/threads. This feature shouldn’t apply to older members—those who’ve been on the board for a while—but new registered users who have only a few posts under their belts. So if a person has less than X amount of posts under their screen name, they should get a reply notification via e-mail.

I think a tool like this would be helpful for board just starting out.

You could achieve the same by setting default notification for new members. When people stay longer they will probably turn it off themself.

Hey, Marco! Thanks for the quick interest in my humble thread!

I was thinking about that, but I didn't want older members to get the emails (after being on the board for so long) and getting upset. Or are you saying that there's a feature that works exclusively for new members, and won't apply to existing/long-standing members?

Under "User Registration Settings", you can set "Automatic Thread Subscription Mode" to "Instant email notification" so that all new users will have this as their default setting. That means that by default they will receive email notifications for all threads they create or reply to. This, of course, doesn't affect existing members.
