I'm not sure what is meant by..."cannot be display awards in postbits"

What effect does this have on the functionality of the hack? Can someone enlighten the less tech-savvy... :)

Thanks all,

Awards when rewarded at the moment can only be viewed in members profile. Next upgrade will hopefully allow rewards to be shown in postbit display for rewarded members.

It is not "cannot", it's just not yet implemented. I am working on postbits, update will be available soon.

Mtha's first release of this hack was yesterday and it was more or less to test functionality. The first version didn't contain the option to display in the postbit and he posted a suggestion to get it to display but removed it because it looks like he is planning another update soon. We wait until he posts the update.

Why dont you try to download the new version, uninstall the hack (just to make sure your database is clean), and install it again.

If the error still there, try to edit the awards_install.php, remove line 233 (where executing that drop table query) and see how it works out.

Good luck

cant have an awards system without displaying them in postbit.
Now you have it

Looks an ok hack will it have an ability for members to request awards later on ?

Quick question: What is the point of "requesting" awards? It's just like I have a cake, and members are jumping on me "Hey, give me one, give me one" :D

To me, Awards is kind of You or your administrative team giving to those who get some significant constribution.

Anyway, if you can tell me why it should be included, I will re-consider.

Suggestions/requests on code optimization, functions, or displays are welcome!

Arial
03-29-2005, 07:08 AM
It's not a function we would want but I can see how some would require it as a function. I presumed this to mean that members can request an award for another member not for themselves.

Say for instance you have a large group of individuals say over a 100 or so and many of them are in different sub groups etc, only they know whether somebody is deserving of a medal not one potentially aloof admin. , so the system allows the admin to see 'votes' if you like , that a certain member has had for an award from other members then he can authorise it or decline it.

I guess that is the meaning, however I think its of secondary importance to issues like
allowing members to comment on awards given etc.

I will get this new version with posbit installed basically now and put up a link shortly.

It seems that you was able to create the database. Check database structure in phpMyAdmin to see if you have that table created?

Is there any different from the query you ran and the one in the installation file?

Or if you are the only one who get this error, I just have you to create the tables manually.

Execute the following queries: (if you run in AdminCP, you need to run each of them individually)

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `award`;

CREATE TABLE `award` (
`award_id` smallint(5) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment,
`award_cat_id` smallint(5) NOT NULL default '1',
`award_name` varchar(50) NOT NULL default '',
`award_desc` varchar(250) NOT NULL default '',
`award_icon_url` varchar(250) NOT NULL default '',
`award_img_url` varchar(225) NOT NULL default '',
`award_displayorder` smallint(5) NOT NULL default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (`award_id`)
) TYPE=MyISAM;

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `award_user`;
CREATE TABLE `award_user` (
`issue_id` smallint(5) NOT NULL auto_increment,
`award_id` smallint(5) NOT NULL default '0',
`userid` int(10) NOT NULL default '0',
`issue_reason` varchar(255) NOT NULL default '',
`issue_time` int(10) NOT NULL default '0',
PRIMARY KEY (`issue_id`)
) TYPE=MyISAM;

and then go to the next step:
/admincp/awards_install.php?step=dofileedits

You may also create the award_cat table, for future development:

I noticed one problem - in the post bit there is a small '_' (which is a link) between award icons.

mtha

Got it all working by doing it manually - I was going to ask if a single user can get the same award more then once...that would make this hack everything I needed - well you can - Thanks!

Yes, you can give a award to one user as many times as you want to.

Hmm, I didnt use IE. FF displayed fine. Anyway, edit awards_bit template, and remove any line break there. Make sure your awards_bit template look like this:
<a href="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$award[userid]#award$award[issue_id]"><img src="$award[award_icon_url]" alt="$award[award_name]: $award[award_desc] - $vbphrase[award_reason]: $award[issue_reason]" border="0" /></a>

Seems that you read and run the queries in NOTE.txt? actually that is for my note, I am working on award_categories, so I didnt clean that part of code.

Okay...is the postbit issue resolved in the 1.01 version I see posted?

What is the "postbit issue"? you mean if the awards displayed in postbit? then yes, awards are displayed in postbit.

A new version is coming up with function of award category

You will be able to:
- Create/delete award categories and sub-categories
- Re-order categories in display
- Re-order awards in display
- Move award(s) from one category to another, or un-classified.

If you want to have a taste of it, look at the attachment.

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

No, not for right now, you guys can suggest some

there're some other features like

- Allow members to comment awards given (Idea by Arial)
- Allow member to request awards (maybe)

but I will hold off for a while. If you guys can think of anything interesting, please add to the list.

<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[award_icon]</td>

and replace that with

<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[award_image]</td>
<td class="thead" nowrap="nowrap">$vbphrase[award_name] /

How to use:

- Find some good award icons and images (some example are given in medals.zip) and upload to your server (or anywhere online)
- Go to ACP/Award Manager, Add award, give it name/description, and URL (full path) to your award icon and image

Now you can go to Award Management, and click "Manage".
In there, you can give award to some user

That's why you need to fill in "Recipient username"

What I am considering here is, what information I need to ask in the form

Right now, I just ask for (fullname - as reference), recipient username, and reason. should that be enough?

If you are really going to get into the "awards nomination" add-on, some points to consider:

1. Award nomination periods. Either by specifying an active nomination period or simply an "on and off" button to activate the nomination option. For example, assume you have a monthly award given out to the member with the most votes. I know as an admin I don't want to see these vote things in my mailbox every day for every month of the year. I would simply specify the dates I want the nominations to begin and the option to vote would become available. For a more inelegant solution, a simple "on and off" button would work.

2. Results tallying. All these nominations should be automatically tallied so I don't have to keep track of who gets so many votes and for which award (if awarding different awards during the same nomination period).

3. One nomination per member, per event. Fairly self-explanatory there. Similar to how the VBulletin polling system handles voting fraud by only allowing you to vote once.

mtha
04-06-2005, 07:20 PM
I dont really "get into" the awards request/nomination much, but will consider doing it. yeah, "nomination" is a much better word than request :D, as of considering "award"

Rightnow, I just had that request posting to a thread. for function, have to create a database. some information would be something like:
ID - award-ID - recipient - from - reason - time (and approved check for admin)
need also a seach on awards based on time,recipient

3. One nomination per member, per event. Fairly self-explanatory there. Similar to how the VBulletin polling system handles voting fraud by only allowing you to vote once.
hmm, means checking award_id and userid during that time ...

Maybe a choice between two or three different "stock" YAAS layouts? similar to how VBulletin offers a choice between layouts. Layouts could be a combination of how awards are displayed ( small and numerous or large and not so numerous ) and how the link text is displayed ( top, bottom )..I'm just shooting out rough ideas..

You admins (who install the hack) should decide what and how to display awards, shouldnt you?
I dont see a point of switching between small+numerous and large+afew in a long run. you just need to decide from the beginning, and go with it. if you want to have it big, make your "icon" big, and limit the awards being displayed "few" (like what Arial has), and vice versa. one time deal.

Looking forward to installing the update, since I now need to incorporate a nomination and voting system for the Member of the Month awards I have created ... thanks again for this hack, I will be donating very soon! (Gotta get through tax day tomorrow, first.)

It was the prefix problem.
Upload this file into your admincp.php and you will be fine.

Worked perfectly. Thank you.

Basically, you need to make changes for some new functions to work.

File changed in this version:

/admincp/index.php => add link to awards system settings
member.php
showthread.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
showpost.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
announcement.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
private.php => limit awards to display, and show link in postbit
memberlist.php => NEW, show award in Memberlist
/include/functions_online.php => NEW, show location in WhoisOnline

Templates changed in this version:

MEMBERINFO
postbit => show # of awards and link to profile
postbit_legacy => show # of awards and link to profile
memberlist => NEW, show award in memberlist
memberlist_resultsbit => NEW, show award in memberlist

are you sure you put upgrade files. Those instructions included were alreay done.

$globaltemplates = array(
'awards_bit'
);

Yep :) .. still only showing the additional column.

agrr, my bad. I forgot to change the "Find in File /private.php" with the correct file name in two spots :(

do the next changes that was named private.php next to it too. and the one bellow that for functions_online.php

or you can download the instruction again.

sorry.,

make sure you have the following:

Pre-requirement:
1. You have some awards in stock
2. The member you are looking at, has some award
3. You have the option Display in postbit = YES
4. Maximum Awards Displayed > 0

make sure you did the follwing changes:

<edit file>
showthread.php

Make sure you did edit postbit (or postbit_legacy) template on the current using style.

<!-- show awards -->

<div>
$post[userawards]
<br>
$vbphrase[total_awards]: $post[num_awards] (<a href="member.php?$session[sessionurl]u=$post[userid]#award">$vbphrase[more_awards] ...</a>)
</div>
</if>
<!-- /show awards -->

That's all what you need to do to show awards in "showthread", edit other files for other pages.

Hope you can get something out of it. It's hard to help if you provide me NO information, except saying "It will not show up"

I still suggest you to install BoardMod and let it edit files automatically. it's quick, and it's easy. it also has option to show you to edit step by step too. I create the "file edit" mod in that program, before ... making the html instructions.

Hi mtha,

I'm requesting for automatic awards like user has top post, user has the most reputation, user has the most post per day %, etc....

my site use UCS as the point system, and ppl is stealing money from the others -> reputation drops, I'd like to have an award like "Thief Master" with someone did most thief actions, and "The Worse Guy" if he has least reputation.

Below is the best example from Gamespot community, take a look and these links:

http://www.gamespot.com/user/profile.html?user=duxup

The example looks really nice.
however, i think that your would lead to a seperate award system, or a branch of it.

I dont really like the idea of giving awards "automatically" very much, for right now, but that'd be a nice idea.
However, for this to work,you dont have award issue time and reason, you also dont have award history. just the current users has, says, top posts (or reputation) showing up, right? if tomorrow, someone else has higher score, the former one will lose his award?

Hi,

At first: This is really really a great hack. Thanks dude :).

But I have two little Questions:

1. In the request_award.php - file there is an option called "REDIRECT OPTIONS:". There you can choose Option 0 to show a thank you message.

Now my question: Is it possibly to show this message AND redirect after some seconds to another page?

This would be very nice :).

2. I translated my hack to german speech and now I have 1 little problem:

In the request award page there are 2 different buttons in the bottom: "Submit" and "Reset". Where can i find this values to translate them?

When this two little problems are solved I really love this hack :).

for this, you can ask Erwin here:

I use his hack for the form, basically.

In the request award page there are 2 different buttons in the bottom: "Submit" and "Reset". Where can i find this values to translate them?

sorry I had those things hard-coded.
you can edit awards_request_form template, and change
value="Submit" => value="$vbphrase[submit]"
value="Reset" => value="$vbphrase[reset]"

I think I need to create the award_cat table again, cause when I click on Award Category Manager I get a error

Could not find phrase 'no_award_categories_found'.

Also when clicking Award Manager, or Add New Award I get this error

(Fatal error: Cannot redeclare construct_depth_mark() (previously declared in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forums\admincp\award.php:91) in D:\Inetpub\wwwroot\forums\includes\adminfunctions. php on line 1235)

should i delete all 3 awards tables and run query manually for this part ?
if so whats the code ? I try useing whats in awards_install.php under updateds - Run Querys, and created the tables that way but as you can see some thing is wronge. I need a little help.

Seems like you were upgrading, and you might have to go through "step 1b" where it says
IF you upgrade from YAAS 1.0 and DID NOT have Award Category, click here to CREATE Category Table -->

if you dont have anything yet, you can just un-install and install it again. it's easier.

anyway, I update the award_cat.php to fix the category error.

You may need to create a category first, before adding award. in the installation, I have a default category, but you missed that by one step.

Thank you so much, wow support at 1:30 a.m. lmao so cool. I redownloaded the zips. I than removed all querys from awards_install.php and manually ran the querys, then ran my edited awards_install.php which skipped the query section and finished the rest step. Maybe you should leave it out had have people run it manually.
Once again thanks so much this hack is awsome !

It's ok if you don't do the auto awards it's easier with cron jobs for this right ?

other parts are good, I think you should make it, I'm looking forward to it (wait for an update mail ^^).

This hack looks amazing, but it would be more awesome if we could have a place where an award winner could fill in their name and home address to claim for prizes. We're talking about real awards. Maybe there's a button where they can click on to claim and after clicking on the claim button it will prompt to fill in personal info where the admin can then send real prizes to the winners. The claim button can be in the postbit or user profile. Thanz

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '}' in /home/mmotri2/public_html/forums/admincp/awards_install.php on line 126

Edit: Fixed it myself knowing less than zilch about vbulletin or php syntax.

I added a trailing ';' at the end of 'WHERE varname' statement.

I got this hack installed and working, but I need help with one thing.
I have mine set up after someone request a award, a new thread is started stating the request with no replys, and a poll option. Also a pm is set to admins and mods. My problem is when you read the request in the thread or if its email or pm to you they all have this bold tag in them twice as you can see below. How can I remove these ?

Dark Dragun Award Request Form

Update: I dont know how to paste code here per rules, but I can tell you were my error was. It was in awards_request_formanswers template. Left out a slash in the last bold tag toward the bottom, I know did this late a night huh ? lol I love your hack thanks again.

You can make another form for this. just like the "Award request form". Look over Dr Erwin Loh for FORM TO THREAD/ FORUM/ PM/ EMAIL hack for detail.

For some reason, there is a direct to a different forum: http://www.hn-ams.org/forum/ (my site is www.onlinedebate.net)

This happens when you click on the award graphic, user's name, or userid of the submitter, when it has been set to start a new thread automatically to show the results of the request form.

How to fix?

Preparing to upgrade from 1.1.0 to 1.2.0 (and it isn't even the middle the night, LOL, how strange) and I can't seem to find the "forum/admincp/awards_install.php?do=upgrade" file in the new zip package. Should I just run the regular install file that's included?

Thanks a heap for adding the member list feature. Your support is superb and I'm headed over to paypal to donate right NOW. :D

You asked about the voting system I would use - I don't have one yet, but I intend to ask my members to nominate other members for a Member of the Month award and then hold a poll to let the members pick the winner, who will receive 2 free months of supporter status (ad-free browsing, among other benefits I have set up for paying members). As I haven't used Erwin's form hack yet (but have looked at it and want to) maybe you've already got me covered there, I am not sure .... but that is definitely the easy part. You've made the rest real easy. Thanks again,

run that from browser, or you just run .../admincp/awards_install.php and select "upgrade"

Remember that, if you didnt have "award category" before, you need to go through step 1b (it will ask when you upgrade)
If you already have Award Categories, skip that step.

Wanted to note for you that in the file mods install file, shouldn't the last one actually be performed on functions_online.php?? Thanks again! :)

you may got the old installer file, or I put the wrong one in there by mistake? just to make sure, I uploaded the installer again in the zip file. You can download and install again. For safe, you can run uninstall before install, to remove any pre-added information. or run upgrade.

if you get same error, check the installer that you were running, make sure that there's no ; in lines 606, 618, 631

no, nothing like that yet.

so you want to allow some group to "see" the award list, and other people awards, or awards of those who are in some group being seen/not seen by all others?

No, sorry I'm not being clear..

I have a section on my forum which is for paying users only. All memberships for this group are handled via the VBulleting subscription system. If the member doesn't renew their yearly subscription, they are removed from the group automatically.

All paid members will be given badges. I want the award to automatically expire if the member is no longer a subscriber. Similar to how VBulletin will drop a user from a subscribers only group when they fail to renew their membership.

Is one of the functions I really miss. So this one should be the 2nd moderation in this excellent hack (works like a charm, and because of the many phrases it's very suitable for a different-language-board :up: )

What I really, really (5 times) miss:

I'm a busy admin and it becomes more than very handy, just like the medal-mod on my old phpbb, if another moderator (or more moderators/crewmembers) could give the medals to the members.
So is there an option i can assign moderator(s)/member(s) to control the medals?
Create medals & categories should still be done by the admin only.
Maybe it's possible to cut a peace of the admincp-code into modcp?

Looking forward to some great coding-work by you :D

Ive set it up and it works fine apart from two things.

- When im editing categories or adding awards, it wants to keep forcing me to log in all the time...That could be a problem though with how i have the board setup.

- I have it set to send me pm's and within those PM's all the links are substituted for http://yourdomain.com...instead of my real domain. Obviously ive overlooked something but i cant find a referance to that hardcoded in any of the files.

Supposed that you didnt edit the master template. if so, you just need to run "reverse" to get to the original template.

mysql error: Table 'usr_web1_3.post' doesn't exist

mysql error number: 1146

The table name is not usr_web1_3.post, its usr_web1_3.vb3_post where vb3_ is the prefix

The error is in request_award.php around line 40
And line 41 has the same error. It should be:
UPDATE " . TABLE_PREFIX . "thread SET

I've just had to edit this template in about 8 places to put my db prefix in as i have FORUM before the name.

Is this the mod I only need to do or will other things need to be adjusted to get it working 100%? Don't want new errors on a newly re-installed forum and db.

I got the same error that jluerken and biagrin are getting, but by deslecting the option to write to a thread in the config page, I got rid of that... So I kinda worked my way around that one...

Plus I'm getting an error when I click on the link to the categories while viewing the Awards page itself... I'm getting this error...
Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM vb3_award_cat
WHERE award_cat.award_cat_id = 1
ORDER BY award_cat_displayorder

mysql error: Unknown table 'award_cat' in where clause

mysql error number: 1109

In reading this thread, I've seen that this is a problem with the prefixes in my db, but I don't know how to rectify the situation. I have the latest dl from the first post, so no other prefix fixes have worked... Any help would be appreciated...

*EDIT*
I guess you can ignore the above problems... I am still having them, but I have fiddled with the templates and managed to hide the error causing links...now unless I add the code back into the templates, no one will get the errors...

Once again, thanks for the hack...too bad for all the bugs that I had though...but still great..

I'm running it with 3.0.8. Simply check if all file changes are still correct and then run award_install.php again to setup the templates again.

This should fix your problem

Ok, well I ran the award_install.php again, tried to run it's install link but that had an error. So I ran the upgrade link which went through fine. Looks like it reset a number of the settings though. I'm concerned it may have wiped out some 3.08 template changes too?

My forums are still functional though.

As far as I know its only adding own templates and not modifying any original one.
Good to hear that its working for you again :D

There are few icons in the zip file. The Icons (c) belong to phpBB Medal hack and some other place online

Is it 3.5 compatible?

Is it possible to also let my mods give the awards?

:) Seems like people are having problems here. Sorry I was away for a while. Will get back to you guys.

I havent install vb3.5 yet, but I will upgrade it for 3.5 (dont have any deadline yet)

for those who got the error something like

Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:

Invalid SQL: SELECT * FROM vb3_award_cat
WHERE award_cat.award_cat_id = 1
ORDER BY award_cat_displayorder

mysql error: Unknown table 'award_cat' in where clause

mysql error number: 1109

find the line 1109 in the file that you are calling, replace

SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "award_cat

by

SELECT * FROM " . TABLE_PREFIX . "award_cat AS award_cat

any place that are missing " . TABLE_PREFIX . ", please add the prefix in.

I will take a look at my files and correct it.

Thanks for using YAAS!

upgrade from 1.2.0 to 1.2.1:
for those who have PREFIX in the database tables, and get database error, please re-upload the new files in 1.2.1 version

2005.08.18 - Version 1.2.1
- fix some bug for database with PREFIX
- Update: upload/replace the files in the attachment (awards.php, request_award.php)
- Re-edit request_award.php with your settings (you may want to make a backup of your old request_award.php and copy the settings over)

Excellent hack! My members are very happy with this. So much that many have requested the following:

A CMPS module that would display the last x members to receive and award. Can this be added to the next release?

I dont use CMS, but this could be done, I will think about this.

I wish there was a way to award a member from a thread instead of the admincp. That'd be cool
Awards should be given by admin. why should it be given in a thread?

If I get this installed can we make it so that it's text not an image?
There's a field called Award Name, you can edit the right templates to display Award Name instead of its images. Which templates need to be edited depends on where you want to display what. it's not an option by default.

Ok, well I ran the award_install.php again, tried to run it's install link but that had an error. So I ran the upgrade link which went through fine. Looks like it reset a number of the settings though. I'm concerned it may have wiped out some 3.08 template changes too?

My forums are still functional though.

vb3.0.8 upgrade was wipe out the original YAAS settings, so you just need to run the upgrade link again, it will add the YAAS templates back. No vB templates are changed during this process.

Check to make sure all the settings are still correct.

Again, if anyone get database error, due to table prefix, please upgrade to YAAS 1.2.1 by replacing (awards.php, request_award.php)

You may also need to re-edit the award_request.php for your custom settings.

you have to configure the award-request setting, in order to receive information as you want'

Now i want to chance the settings so, a Supermoderator or an other Admin with not all permissions can manage the awards too.

There's No setting to do this. You can try to upload the files in admincp to modcp, and see if your fellow can use it. I cant give further modification at this time.

Yes.
Compatible vB version: 3.0.8. It should work with all vB 3.0.x versions.

You must have done something wrong. Try to reverse the first edit on memberlist.php,
just use original

$globaltemplates = array(
);

Dont add the awardsbit template, and see how it work

I want also to disable request form completely

There's an option in setting to turn it off. you then can remove the request_award.php file too.

also is thereaway to display award image instead of icon in member profile

In member prodile, the award image is displayed at the bottom, together with award name and reason, isnt it?

Hello,

first thank you for this great hack. But I've one question.
The title of the automatic post shows the username of the person, who requests an award for another user. But I want that the title looks like:

I hope you understand, what I mean. I think, that the change must be in the awards_request_formanswers the first line

you want to chaneg the post/thread title?

well, it's not that simple,

you need to look at request_award.php file, there's few places where

in the insert query, it insert this for title:

'".addslashes(htmlspecialchars($vbulletin->userinfo[username]))." $formtitle'

You need to change in there.

CAUTION: you need to know what you are doing, when you make the changes.

My time is limited now, so I cant do that coding for you. I dont use that form anyway.

I didnt want to add it in either, just that some members want to have it, so I add Edwins' form hack there. if you want. Maybe you should just disable it, as I dont have time to give alot of support over that function.

maybe later on, I write a complete different one, for the purpose
