Disabling PM: Sorry the feature is currently offline.

Hi, I am wondering if there is a easy way to go about doing this.

To disable send and recieve PM for a usergroup.. say X for example.

Members of this usergroup X who send PM to other members receive msg "sorry pm system is offline or something message....."

Members from other usergroup who send PM to the member in usergroup X recieve message "sorry internal error.. cannot send PM to user abc.."

will something like this need major modification of code? it wud be a nice tool to have arnd the forums in addition to miserable users mod

You could easily diable sending and receiving PM's for a usergroup, by using the standard vB usergroup permissions. Just set the number of allowed PM's to 0.

thats correct, but i was wondering if there was a way i cud extend it to give a message saying - the pm system is down or some error with database, its more like for trolling users.

Well you could change the default phrase that is now notifying that you can not send (to) PM.
