FAQ:
What Does It Do? it enables your members to apply to be a mod, cuts down on all the asking and stuff

What about the cool back end? ooh yeah, so anyway it will email on the 14th day to either let em know they've been shortlisted or to try again at a later date

How will it know? mod ratings innit, if their under 7 their outta there

Anything else? nah i guess it starts a thread in your mod forum to tell your mods to rate em

How does it know what forum and who's the threadster? you tell em via the admincp options (where the rest of the vboptions are) theirs a handy little group for the MAF and i don't mean 2+2

Ok so that's gotta be it now? nope

What else does it do? it logs it all in the admincp schedules tasks and sends you a copy of the email

Damn who taught you all that? various folks, special thanks to Dean, Marco, OBK and Zero Tolerance who helped me on this specific hack though.

Ok so what's the install like? swift the long thing is the upload

Ok rumour is it needs to run a cron, what's a cron? :squint: it's the automated do-dad in the admincp

How do i set it up? it's so straight forward you could close your eyes and do it, the file you're cronning is called "maf-cron.php" and i recommend running it at 12.30 (that means leave the rest as stars)

So you heard their was an upgrade and you're wondering just what you have to do right? simply reupload all the files (not including your cron if you wanna be special and then just run the installer, if that gives you trouble just click overrite original settings, all it's gonna do it reinstall the phrases, reinstall the templates and tell you the two file mods to remake.

So forum users can decide if they want an applicant as a moderator or not.this could be done, but on the way it currently works it checks if theirs any mod apps and if their is it makes one thread to announce it, what you would want is a different thread of each, all in all it's just a matter of playing around with the cron script.

Alright, after a few hours of testing; a few issues have arised.. :(

Numero Uno:

Hey no worries Sabe.. I knew it would be kinda risky installing it straight on to my live board so early in development without me testing it on my test board first. Other than the occasional errors, it's a very nice mod indeed and I see a lot of potential..

Once the bugs have been ironed out, I'll look in to seeing if there's anything I can improve upon. I'm sure in some of the e-mail notifications I receive, there are usernames repeated (ie. in more than one notification) and it would be nice to have the applicant usernames printed in the thread notifications too.. :)

i have no idea where the link is with the language text but if when dragging an email out of the templates rather than the phrases it's going to inbox, something has to be different right?

it checks based on if theirs any apps that were there that weren't yesterday, not based on appid's.

Also a question with cron , as I explained before. I just tested application form once cause I had to make some translations over templates. And I ran the cron job and I didn't set a time to run. I have 10 topics now but what I can't understand is if a cron job run once and do his job why is he opening the same topic second time ?
I am not sure if the cron job will re open the thread ? I checked now and he again reopened the thread. Thats is something you must clear urgently cause it will be really disturbing that cron job will do the job again and again which he already did.

Also a question with cron , as I explained before. I just tested application form once cause I had to make some translations over templates. And I ran the cron job and I didn't set a time to run. I have 10 topics now but what I can't understand is if a cron job run once and do his job why is he opening the same topic second time ?
I am not sure if the cron job will re open the thread ? I checked now and he again reopened the thread. Thats is something you must clear urgently cause it will be really disturbing that cron job will do the job again and again which he already did.

I think the problem is with your board cause the installer is working perfect. message is a bug in the HIS installer, where it can not display the normal error message if a SQL error occurs. You should find the SQL error however if you ever want to solve your problem.

ok for this quite sure what the error is, at the end of the cron script it checks if theirs any new applications, if that case is true then it makes the thread, this isn't in a loop or anything or the sort in order to generate this command more than once, however everytime the script is run it will make a new thread, i can only guess that somehow the script ran ten times.

I see more people are getting the same SQL error. If i however copy the SQL statement into a SQL-editor, it runs without any problems.

I am running MySQL 4.1.8 myself, you are still on version 3, so that might be the reason for your problems. Would be interesting to see if the other users reporting this error are also running older MySQL versions.

You maybe have access to a server running a higher MySQL version to test?

Change the line:

This should probably be done for every CREATE TABLE statement in that file.

Now please check if it runs and report back.

My guess is that you will run into the same problem with loads of other hacks also. Solution would be the same for all.....remove the TYPE=MyISAM or change it to TYPE=ISAM.

I guess everybody still running MySQL 3 will have this problem, i would suggest you look into upgrading.

I think we have to change that to

depends on your set up the modcp variable is defined in your config.php

either way should work as long as you compensate for the directory.

Sabre , I have a question ,
I modified the templates and I removed the timezone from modapp template and the input space for that. Now when I go to rate the application the last line I see is timezone and the other inormation is missing (checked the attached screenshot please) . Now I'm not sure if this is my mistake or not :) How can I figure this out ?

Once again...my apologies thought i answered that the first time around, guess i got sidetracked making sure it'd work properly for everyone :(

regarding the word "mod" that's down to my limitation in regards to patience and getting the installer to work, as it is, it's a simple template change which is just as much effort as changing the phrase, so unfortunately i can't see this being changed till atleast the next release of the HIS and then i may fully phrase it.

regarding the ability to change question, this may see the light of day in future versions though it all depends on how busy i am and if i have the time to write the code changes and add the extra scripting. either way i can't see it being done by me for now.

Ok installed the mod, have a few problems, it’s a brand new install of 3.0.7

I had no errors when I ran the installer, however;

Every time I run the cron I get this error emailed to me:

For solving this problem i would focus on datatypes used that are new in MySQL 4, check www.mysql.com

Also i am not the coder of the installer, that is link. I promissed link that i will support the installer, and try to fix some (minor) bugs, and add some much requested functions. I haven't done much about it until now however, since i just didn't have the time.

Hmm.. It would appear that applicants aren't get shortlisted.

In every e-mail that I receive, it states that there are no shortlisted applicants, yet there are people with the required ratings that applied more beyond the time stated. The unsuccessful applications are functioning fine, it's just the successful ones that don't seem to be.

2) i have set the cron as stated above and scheduled task to run 1 time per day however it still send the same applicant form to moderators forum non stop any idea how to fix this?

I am not sure, but it seems to me the problem with the installation of HIS is associated with MySQL version 3.23 while it didn't affect version 4 and above.. ( I tested it on another site and it ran smoothly like a charm)..

I tried to copy&paster several times, and even added extra spaces, but phpMyAdmin didn't get it right.. so I tried something else..

I inserted the tables manually, and the script worked 80% except for the automatic thread creation.. I think the reason was that I didn't know how to run the following command manually: ( I am still novice @ MySQL quries :o :o )

Chris, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

and don't forget to set up a cron to run once daily (you will need to configure your cron on line 10, this requires a manual edit of the file before upload)

Marco, the includes/install confusion is not the problem. As I said a couple pages back, I made a mistake in the post saying includes. In fact it is and was install.

Well all i can say for now then is try to upload all files in install again, and make sure you are transfering them in ASCI mode.

1 more question, do you have your admincp directory renamed?

Then edit it and set the name of your $admincpdir.

You can leave this file renamed and in place. All future hacks you install using HIS will only suply a new _default file and not overwrite the one you just edited. Only do this once, all future HIS installs will use the admincpdir setting from the edited file.

Problem is : forum/modcp/maf_rateapp.php
& forum/admincp/maf_delapp.php
Both return empty files , not blank pages
Just the page with the header; MAF Moderator Application Rating Form
and the jellsoft footer ofcourse
But nothing within which am looking for to delete apps or rate them !

Well at present there is no support for it at all mate.
I am still waiting for some help to eather get it going or remove it!!!!!

Dam I am getting the same thing.............
Have uninstalled and reinstalled but same thing.

When I try to uninstall I aslo get this messege.
There is no record of being installed. It cannot be uninstalled.

I downloaded this hack and it is very intresting to me
All running fine , application submited
Problem is : forum/modcp/maf_rateapp.php
& forum/admincp/maf_delapp.php
Both return empty files , not blank pages
Just the page with the header; MAF Moderator Application Rating Form
and the jellsoft footer ofcourse
But nothing within which am looking for to delete apps or rate them !
The thread posting is correct and everything else except that those two files doesnt not return what i supposed i should find .. right ?
can you open up one of the two files in notepad and post the contents in php tags please.

I was thinking of using this hack as this seems to be exactly what I've been looking for but I've got a few questions.

1. How stable is it?

2. How customizable is it? Can you add/edit/remove form fields?

3. Are there any boards using this hack so I can take a look at it?
1/ very stable, the biggest problem seems to be mysql compatibility and a bug in the email.

2/ not very customisable at all i'm afraid.

3/ many including mine, but please do not sign upto my site just to take a look at the hack.

it adds the log to the schedule task logs, but it's best to keep that their even if empty, so if it don't work or stops working for some reason you can trace it back

Sabe , here is the code of the file in admincp, as i said everything else is working, even this file is openning without a php error or mysql error , its just openning with header and footer, thats all
my vb is 3.0.5 btw , i just need to see whats making it not loading so i can check up MOD apps !

you did make the changes specified for the admincp/index.php and modcp/index.php right? as the url to both files is page.php?do=action and unless yo enclude the action, they won't show up.

In the zip ive downloaded i dont see any changes asked to be made!
Since i know basics of php i knew there is more to be done but all what was in ur install file was

right here's the quick and short of it, bung the files in the relevant folders

forums/modapp.php
forums/admincp/maf_delmodapp.php
forums/modcp/maf.. rahdy rar etc

run the installer at www.yoursite.com/forums/install/hack_install.php

and follow the instructions.

and don't forget to set up a cron to run once daily (you will need to configure your cron on line 10, this requires a manual edit of the file before upload)
