Hello,
I'm new to vBulletin and its services and am currently very confused after searching through the forum. Perhaps someone could be nice enough to answer some of my questions?
1) Do I need to purchase a separate license for both the forum and portal system? I'd like to have a portal system and use the forum by vBulletin.
2) Can 4Images 1.7.1 be integrated into either the forum or portal or both smoothly? Is there a demo or example site that I can test?
3) I'm currently using IPB 2.0 and 4Images 1.7.1. Is there anyway to integrate this into vBulletin so my members don't have to re-register for another account? Or, if they do have to re-register for an account, the same username and password should work for both the forum and gallery, right?
Sorry if these questions seem so dumb, but I'm really new to this and have no clue. The license costs a lot of money, and I want to make sure I'm getting exactly what I need.
I'm really anxious for some replies so I can get started. Thank you in advance!
Zachery

1. Depends on the portal, there are many free ones, and some paid ones.
2. Not sure, I don't use 4images, i personaly use vBadvanced Gallery, there is also coppermine (while I don't use this either) i've heard some people got it running with vB
3. vBulletins ImpEx software will import all of your IPB2 data but not the 4Images data. You'd either need to modify the importer to do that, or get some sort of importer for it.

Which are free and which require payment? Can you be more specific? Is there a demo?

If there was a hack to make 4images integrate with the vB forum, wouldn't it still work with the portal system, theoretically?

Is this free? If not, how much does it cost?

hi,
vbadadvanced cmps => free
vbportal => commercial
vbulletin importers are free if you have a valid licence
http://www.vbadvanced.com
http://www.vbportal.com
remember the importer only imports your ipb data (not the one from integrated scripts)

What's the difference between these two? I visited both sites and didn't notice any difference. :o

So there's no real difference? Who should I purchase my license with, then: vBulletin forum license or vBportal? And where do I go to purhcase? Is there a 30-day money-back guarantee period?

www.vbulletin.com for the forum license vBportal you have to buy in addition to vBulletin. there are 5 free portals(i think) on vbulletin.org in the vb3 portal area.
