Force Sub-Domain Redirect

This is but a tiny modification, however to some perhaps useful, below is a description of what this lil modification does.

Description
Let's say you have: http://YOURSITE.com/forums, however you also have this set up as a sub domain: http://forums.YOURSITE.com
You dont want visitors to go to the old URL, and if they do you want them to be redirected to the new URL, this is exactly what that does, and doesn't loose the operation with in the URL.

Example
Let's say a user tries to visit: "http://YOURSITE.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7"
They will be automatically redirected to: "http://forums.YOURSITE.com/showthread.php?p=7"
So they will end up in the same location, however the URL is fixed and goes to your sub-domain instead of the one they have requested.

Could thsi be modifyed to work with moving between one domain and another? eg if a use goes to http://SITEDOMAIN.com/forums/file.php?query=string that it moves to http://FORUMDOMAIN.com/file.php?query=string
