Is it possible to exclude all the premium support forums from the "New Posts" search.

Clicking on this link these days seems to yield a list of threads of which 50% plus are from these forums and of little relevance to the majority of people (compared to before, when all support queries were centred on just a few threads).

It's becoming difficult to seperate the generic posts and requests for help from the hack specific ones.

Well, you can see the forumname, so you should know if it's a specific request or a normal one ;)

but i see the general thing, and i'm currently thinking about just showing the forums to those who have actually installed the hack.

i'm still not sure how i want to do it exactly

Xenon, what about member groups? People who click the install button of the hack would become a member of the group and able to see the support forum?

that would mean a bunch of new usergroups, and i want to avoid it.

i'm thinking more about rewriting the get permission thing to check if a hack is installed and the put the permissions to yes, otherwise to no :)

I like that idea by the way Stefan :)

True, and it's all built-in and easy to adapt.

I agree.. An option to exclude the premium hack forums from the "new posts" search would be very useful. Now that the premium forums have been added the new post feature isn't very effective due to the extra time it takes to sort through all the unwanted search results.

An option to remove some forums from new posts, without adding those forums to exclude lists.. we have an addon made under NNTP Gateway Hack for vb3 by liedurh..
Advanced Gateway Hacking Guide:

Possibly, we can add an option in USERCP Options to users,
Ignore posts from Premium Addons
Display all posts

Gives a choice to users.. what they want.

Ok, think i did it ;)

When you call your options, you will see at the very end a new option, asking if all premium forums should be included in searches or not.

default is yes.

My tests did work so far, but if there are any problems, report em here :)

I've found a bug.

If I set this to no, the "xxx has installed this Mod" no longer shows up in my hacks for anybody except me.

huh?

sorry, i cannot reproduce that bug, it still shows up correctly for me, and as the sections are indepentant from each other, it would be very wierd as well..

can anyone confirm this?

also, have you installed one or more premium hacks?

Here are two screenshots of the same thread (this one (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=71533)) - one with the option set to yes, the other with it set to no. I do not have any of the "premium" hacks installed.

hmm, still wierd, why it works here and not at your side...

i've rewritten a little bit, is it better now?

Please add the new ibProArcade premium forum to the exclusions, it's obviously not automatic. :)
