View Full Version : vbAdvanced Gallery
Can anyone speak to the quality this package? Is it worth the price? I am looking for an easy way for my news team to upload and display pictures, screenshots and the like.
Any info would be appreciated.

I personally like it. It has alot to offer, esp in teh way of vb intergration and offers most of, if not all of, the features of other major gallery programs.
What are you looking to do exactly?

Found it to be the easiest and best to use for vB integrations (really the only way you can use it). Plus - Its very very reasonably priced (I would go as far as to say very cheap) - gets 5 stars from me.

if they always respond to user's requirement and make improvement, this is definitely a better product

In between the beta versions and the first RC versions a lot of the features added were in direct response to feedback from the users. Then after the public was able to play around with the first RCs (RC1 & RC2) he added a ton more of new features in RC3 (the current version) again as a result of feedback from the users.

VBGallery will be the same price as it was, around $59. I actually use both and love them:

Ah ah ah. Correction, Photopost didn't purchase vBGallery from vbadvanced. Photopost brought a lawsuit against vbadvanced because they were losing customers to superior vbGallery and are money hungry.
Here is the lawsuit they brought against them:

It's just a matter of time before the prices jump up.

vba Gallery nka Photopost vbGallery purchase price is the same as before, 150% on branding free and 100% increase on annual renewals. Actually the pricing makes no sense as every year you could now buy a new licence rather than renew, not that its any good without another vb licence.
The price increases took effect the moment it became available uner the Photopost branding.
* nitro really wonders whos wearing Tin foil hats. ;)

Classic!
Nitro, only people like you who somehow see and extra $20/year for a quality product as a burden. Thats like skipping Mcdonalds twice in one year to cover it. Not bad.

I never shop @ MuckDonalds m8
Maybe a 100% increase is worth it, maybe it isnt, I find it an increase beyond any justification, as an increase itself, and is out priced my needs for a gallery. Still you can go get yer 10$ BiG Mac anytime you like, or perhaps that would be just too much for a quality burger. Some increases are justifiable some arent. Its up to the company in the end, and then its wether the end user takes it up or not. I think you would soon moan if gas hit 10$ a gallon, or if taxes was doubled in the next budget.
It maybe only an extra $20 a year but it was $19 before, and that may well have been one of the deciding factors in the choice, aside from Photoposts reputation to some. You should also note that when the aquasition was announced, photopost catagorically stated there will be no price increases in the foreseable future. That soon changed too. They will soon get there legal fees back tho if thats how it went wont they as theyve increased the renewal fees to the same price as the intitial purchase fee. Doesnt take much working out to see the likely directions its heading.
Im just pleased now that theres other very viable alternatives to take the place of vbA Gallery. :)
Edit: Defending a policy from you place of work is one thing Mr Trackpads, however attempting to insult and belitle another user is imo unacceptable behaviour. If this is how you intend to win more customers I do not hold out much hope for the methods success.

I dont 'work' anywhere but for uncle sam. And pointing out Trolls on this and any other forum is a pleasure that I do for free :)
Now, get a life. I am sure there are better causes in the world that need attention. Ever consider Greenpeace?

LOL Perhaps one should look @ ones self before pointing the finger in other directions.
Your comment was far from proffessional or mature and bore no sense in response to the question of the price increases size pro rata, but to try to be offensive, however the only person you have done that to is yourself and the company you represent, Its a good job I know fact that not all from photopost carry that attitude, however the way you have represented them has done them no favours what so ever, and now as far as I am concerned brings a big question as to wether the product would remain a quality product, which i've no doubt it was prior to photoposts aquisition.
In future when someone asks me what I would recomend for a gallery, I now have no choice but to point them to this thread and your posts in particualur, to complete my unbiased options for that user, in regards gallery software. Its not just about the software, its also about the attitude of their support. It is of my opinion you have, with your comments you just rekindled the flames of photopost support from the past. I have seen far bigger companies die from less than what you have said in the last 24 hours, and that has sometimes been some stupid quip in a private boardroom meeting. Its known as "commercial suicide".

vBGallery works for me.
- I was thinking of some type of image list plugin from the gallery in the postbit for easy selection. (not had a lot of time to code one yet)
@Trackpads - Was that off a movie that dude w/ the hat ?

I just saw the photopost post about the renewal fees... I can understand thier reasoning for wanting to keep things uniform but that just seems way out of proportion and would require a hell of alot of new features to make it worth while imho.
Considering all the negativity emotions customers have towards photopost and the more than considerable worries those users have had about development nad pricing, -- one would think that they would keep the rates in check.
Even trying to keep a neutral standpoint I can't help but shake my head in disapproval about this.

The price increases took effect the moment it became available uner the Photopost branding.Actually the prices were only recently announced in response to people wanting to order the product prior to it being added to the ordering system. The actual product price has remained the same as it was previously.

I own both, PhotoPost and vBgallery. I bought both last week. I am only using Photopost on my site now, I bought both just in case I was having some trouble installing Photopost (my mistyping was the reason in configuring) and I figured I could go with vBgallery if I needed to. Both have great features but PhotoPost has the most features.
