I've installed the 2.0 hack as per the instructions (with all file changes) and articles.php works fine... however, I can't access any of the admincp options as I get a blank page?

Is there any way to trace why I get this?

Wierd... removing this line fixes it?:

include_once (''.$vbart_options['wysiwygpath'].'fckeditor.php');

Must break something though!

Hmm odd.

To fix your problem, try this.
Comment out that line
Go to your vbArticles settings and set everything up the way you want it. Remember to set the FCKeditor path properly.

Save the settings.
Then go back to the file, uncomment this line.

See if you still face problems. Let me know, ya ? :)

Hmm...I think it is some php setup issue, I know for me it returns errors initially but at least it shows the page. Some face the white screen of death instead.

I will see if I can find a workaround fix for this so these blank screens will be a thing of the past. Will try to post a fix soon. Meanwhile those who face this problem, please do what I mentioned above :)

Thanks for reporting back Ian :D

So, i have a explain for that...

your hack have some problems with GZIP html compression.

I have actually this white screen, but if i put the Gzip compression on OFF in Vb 3.0.7, so i can access to configuration of Vb Articles !

it possible to remedy to this problem..?

A bit of fiddling... I would guess this is an issue with php's handling of errors. I know some installations will return a blank page instead of just printing out errors... if you include something that can't be found (such as the fckeditor without the proper path), you get an error, which PHP then supresses and gives you a lovely white page for.

A reasonable workaround I've found is simply changing (in ./admincp/vbarticles.php):
include_once (''.$vbart_options['wysiwygpath'].'fckeditor.php');
to:
if (file_exists(''.$vbart_options['wysiwygpath'].'fckeditor.php'))
include_once (''.$vbart_options['wysiwygpath'].'fckeditor.php');

A bit of fiddling...

Yep makes sense, I will include that in the next revision.
Thanks Dionysis. :D

Although it does not really matter,

include_once (''.$vbart_options['wysiwygpath'].'fckeditor.php');

Should be changed to:

include_once ($vbart_options['wysiwygpath'].'fckeditor.php');
