im aware there is a hack avalible to stop email bounce backs, but i thought if there was a way to use the users actual full name to send validation emails ? sometimes message boards / websites can get put into the junk folder which can ultimately leave the user not completing the registration process and i think most of the free mail clients dont put emails that contain their name into junk bin ? its either going to work fully or partcially i havent actually tried the method, but i think it would work as most of my members use free accounts.

so instead of the normal from: boardname replace that with the users signup name? and put here's your validation for $boardname email in the subject ....

anyone like that idea ? im getting really fed up of people signing up and not validating, the other option is to turn it off, which will comprimise the security of my members and likely raise spammers.

One easy thing would be to change the verification mail text, to avoid the words "click", "link", "url".

Most Spam filters are sensitive to those.

Here Here!

me too, I get loads of them. i've commented on the ongoing problem at vb.com too.

It's not just the amount of users in that group it's also all the ones that use the contact form just to tell you they are not getting a validation email. Then you have to explain about spam and filters time and time again.

Once you have potential members with problem email addresses they don't go away or take on board what you told them, they just keep trying everything. Requesting password reminders and validation emails and even come back once you have cleaned up users waiting validation emails group.

only a minor problem really, :speechless:
