I saw an older thread showing how on vbulletin 2.3.x, but cant find an updated one.

you can do it by replacing the phrase "Sticky" with blank

On V3:
AdminCP >Languages & Phrases > Phrase Manager > page: 25/33 > sticky_ thread_ prefix > press edit
Delete the "Sticky".
If you want a blank text, press the space bar few times or the "Sticky" text (default) will still show.

i can't edit the text, just the 'translation', correct?
i can change 'Sticky:' to other text, but i can't get it to change to blank text.
