File Comparison Programs

I am looking for a File Comparison Program. I am new to vb and like my board with several of the great hacks from this site. ;)
The last few updates were fun to say the least. I know there has to be an easier way! :P
I did a search and found a few but I am not sure which one to get or is there something better.

Great by the way, and I was wondering if sense the post was started in May of 2002, Is everyone still using this Araxis or maybe something might be better?

I have used Araxis Merge with very good results.

I prefer Beyond Compare :)
I've also tried Araxis Merge but didn't get used to it.

If you want smth. free, try WinMerge.

I am leaning towards Beyond Compare, but I have another question. I have a linux server that I do not host myself. How do uguys use your programs? And what would be the best way for me?
Do I want to ftp the folders to my windows machine, or is thier a way to do this by way of ftp?

Winmerge is good, but you apparently can't sync with an FTP site like you can with Beyond Compare. I've used Beyond Compare many times over the years, and it has always been a great tool. I've also heard good things about Araxis, but it's at least 4x the price; more if you get the "pro" version. I have no idea if it's that much better.

BBEdit.. Macintosh, nothing come close to the power of this application.
