I am looking for a few people that would be interested in helping code something for a site of mine.

My idea:
You make a section of the forums. In that section you have individual forums for ONLY the group of people in that 'game', groups of 16 people. Every 5 days you vote someone out of the forum through a poll that is used. Someone, not in the game, would be a moderator of that 'game' to make the polls each week in a thread and to moderate the forum. The 'players' would use the forum and PMs (and only those 2) to communicate. The more time they would spend on the site, the better off they would be in forming frienships and alliances. The only thing I haven't nailed down is: I need to think of challenges for every 5 day period so that people can win immunity. You could probably use online-games for it. That way there is challenges through games and also the aspect of setting up personal alliances.
Depending on how popular it would get, idealy you would take the winners from each sets of groups and pit them against each other, kind of like a tournament style.
Once the site became popular for people to join and play I'm sure you could make it so that there were cash prizes. I can't imagine this not becoming hugely popular for people that love online communities or like the game.

Please contact me through my site, www.urfixup.com , email: suggestions@urfixup.com if you are interested in being a part of the team to work on this or have suggestions.

Thank you

I don't understand what special code you think you need. You can create usergroups and restrict access to certain forums with them already, you don't need code for that. Once they've been voted off, you just remove them from the group.

You could use a simple way and modify user groups & polls.

You would use the resources such as polls, forums, restrictions, and what not but there would have to be a LOT of customization to it. In a way, it would be a completely different section of the site and of the forums. The less customization in the back in coding to make it all automated, the more an assigned moderator would have to manually do things.

If you had 20 different groups of 16, you'd have a lot of manual work to do that could be coded in to do it for you.

I dunno, my site has been kicking an idea just like this around for a few months, and it isn't the customizations that are holding us back, but rather the manpower. We've figured out a really low-tech way of doing it, it would just take a few really dilligent administrators to dedicate a lot of time to it.

That's the point of taking the time to automate as much of it as possible. It's more efficient that way, specially if you are going to try to deliver it to a large portion of the public.

I'm very interested in having this hack developed. I'm willing to put up $250 toward it.

That help??
