View Full Version : (not sure if I'm even posting in the right place) ... how to show vb3 threads in home

I'm trying to figure out a way to do some basic integration with VB3 and my site, http://www.mikhailtech.com. Basically I want to post news in a special vb sub-forum (in http://forums.mikhailtech.com). I then want the first post of every thread to appear on my site home page with a link to "show replies" which redirects the user to the actual thread in the forums where they can comment.

I'm sure there are already modifications for this but there's just so much stuff on this site that I can't find what I'm looking for. Again, I don't need full integration; I just want to post news in the forum and have them show up on the main page rather than posting news through PHP-Nuke (my site is based on a bastardized version of it).

Can someone point me in the right direction?

actually, there was a great one for vB2 called PluhNews [written by Rob from pluh.com]. Included in the package was a script for including just the headlines [thread titles and poster w/# of replies] from news forum, headlines from chit-chat and a news script that actually posted the thread contents though an include you put on your home page. Alas, Rob hasn't updated it since vb 2.2.8 [I believe]. All scripts work fine with vb3, save the news thread include. So if you know enough of PHP, you can probably get it to work. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is with the bbcodeparse2 bit [it's probably changed in vb3], but that seems to be all that's holding it up. If you want it, it should be in the vb2 hacks forums someplace. If it's gone or missing, let me know, I'll hook you up with a copy.
