hack errors!

I have two problems that I would LOVE to solve.... I have:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/piper/public_html/admin/functions.php:2542) in /home/piper/public_html/admin/functions.php on line 1718

and

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/piper/public_html/admin/functions.php:2542) in /home/piper/public_html/showthread.php on line 136

Can someone help me? The first one is on all the pages at the top, the second one is only when I click the arrow to take me to the last post in the forum... and now I cant get into the admin panel either! this all happened after Doing one of the following hacks:

What editor did you use for your file edits?

Also check if you have not a space or a newline in top of your files.

I just used the editor in my cpanel. I will check to see that, would it make a differernce if there was an extra line in the php?

Yes, if it is in front of the "<?php" or after the "?>"
